no one calls you a racist if you criticize the caste system? plenty of indians criticize the caste system.

people call you a racist because you evidently view indians as second-class humans and 'inferior' to your own race/culture.

you really can't tell the difference between an indian's perception of caste/class within their own society, and a white observer being racist?

as per the gini index, india is substantially more equal than societies like the united states and united kingdom.

we don't have formalized caste systems, but class is a perennial and pernicious evil in british society. people born on the bottom are likely to stay on the bottom -- a long way from the congenital 'winners' who take it all.

as i said above, india is a developing country and has a long, long way to go. but making out that they're 'racist' towards themselves and have 'second-class citizens', when you're from a country that literally demonizes its underclass on a daily basis, is just funny. being susceptible to hierarchies, discrimination and snobbery is not an exclusively indian thing; it's not related to brown skin.

how is the caste system evidence of 'racism', let alone instinctual racism?

societies tend to order themselves into hierarchies, particularly older societies. wowsers!

there are many examples of egalitarian societies and ones which do not have such hierarchical orders. there are many examples of societies with a culture and sociology quite different from caste/class-afflicted ones. there is nothing 'instinctive' about it.

you really do go in for the 'evolutionary psychology' mumbo-jumbo. the status quo which pertains in a certain number of cases effortlessly becomes 'instinct', as old as hominids. very very dumb stuff.

the burden of proof does seem to be on the people who want to establish racism as a human instinct rather than a learned behavior.

Yeah, people should be encouraged to assimilate into their host country. But that it is not teacher's job to promote assimilation. It is not a cop's job to promote assimilation. Both groups should be given training to not make situations worse by being pig people.

tribalism != racism. many differences. racism, very much learned behavior as a person grows and assimilates (or maladjusts) into their surroundings and is given social meaning to other things that are of a more basic nature. scaffolding around the primate brain. anxiety-ridden animals maladapted to modern life, cultural evolution is faster than biological evolution.
