My high school history teacher had a layover flights there as well as a temporary stationing there while he was in the military(this was in the late 60's). He said it was paradise. Snorkeling, water skiing, and salt water fishing to kill the time. Ya better like one of those three, cause there isn't anything else to do there, lol.

I didnt know until a little while ago that Wake was named after a Navy captain (named Wake, der). I always thought it was named Wake Island because it kinda resembles the "V" shape of a wake...like from a boat.
