You're avoiding the key issue here: America supports fair trials. You can't do this without supporting unpopular causes. What's more important to you, fair trials for Americans or doing EVERYTHING possible to debolish NAMBLA? Are you so angered by NAMBLA that you would do away with civil rights? Would you also support torturing people after they are denied a fair trial? By your logic, the American government is giving support to murderers and criminals by having a justice system where they are allowed to argue their case.SEREMAKER wrote:

I do not agree that the government should be allowed to pick and choose who has the right to a fair trial. This goes against the basic tenets of the United States of America. Every murderer, every shithead, every hateful fuck who should be obliterated from the face of the earth deserves a fair trial for us to prove that he has broken the law and should be punished accordingly.
Personally, I support our forefathers' goals. I support civil rights for everyone, even people with whom I disagree. This is the American way. Americans who do not believe in these civil rights , such as those who can't see the service provided by the ACLU, should rethink their allegiance to this country and what it stands for, and consider repatriating elsewhere.
1) I think your MISSING our point. Our point is not whether or not they deserve the fair trial, it is just that ACLU makes asinine statements ABOUT the groups they support, not the right to their defense.The_Shipbuilder wrote:

2) Agree.
3) Of course not, I can't find anywhere where any of us specifically said they DO NOT DESERVE a fair trial.
4) Of course not!
5) What!? Cmon you're assuming too much.
6) I agree with you. Once again where did we say otherwise?
avoiding the key issue no I don't think I am, I see your point and agree we need civil rights but we shouldn't have the ACLU to fight, we have laws - what we need is stricter punishment and we need to enforce the lawsThe_Shipbuilder wrote:

(my opinion) ACLU has done worse then good and I'm for the disbandment of them, they want to pick apart the Constitution that our forefathers put together
ACLU has dug themselves a hole they won't be able to get out, on 1 side of the coin they fight to help but flip it over and they are helping to tear apart America
murderers and criminals are criminal cases ACLU handles civil cases - now if a victims family want to sue the murderer then thats civil or if the murderer feels like he is being discriminated against while he's in prisonBy your logic, the American government is giving support to murderers and criminals by having a justice system where they are allowed to argue their case.
The_Shipbuilder - lets take this debate over to this thread so we don't clutter up this one ---- I kinda feel like we have pulled away from the topic of this thread on freedom
oh on a side note The_Shipbuilder thanks for keeping this debate mature and level, I hate it when someone flys off the edge and ruins a good debate with cussing or irrational posts

NAMBLA defends what it asserts to be the right of minors to explore their sexuality on a much freer basis. It has resolved to "end the oppression of men and boys who have freely chosen mutually consenting relationships", and calls for "the adoption of laws that both protect children from unwanted sexual experiences and at the same time leave them free to determine the content of their own sexual experiences.
Ok if you don't see this as eerily insane you've got issues.

oh its more then eerie its sick and they have ACLU to protect them bc they use the "Freedom of Speech" ( now don't get me wrong about the freedom of speech, I'm a red, white and blue blooded American) but we have laws against the sexual exploitation of minors and NAMBLA publicly fights to have these laws abolished but where is ACLU to defend the minor laws against NAMBLAKmarion wrote:
