The thing is, if you don't want to be picked on or profiled, or your religion to be looked down upon... you have a right and responsibility to defend it.
I agree that they have a right to respond, and there are and have been Muslims decrying terrorist attacks. You just haven't heard about it. That might be the medias fault. Then again, it might be your own for not seeking it. I disagree with your statement that they must defend their beliefs to people. Muslims have a responsibility to distance themselves from fanatics, but they do not have to defend themselves against a witch hunt. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty, one of the main pillars of our justice system?

By not defending themselves it cast a shadow over all Muslims. You can call it what you like and you can call people country hicks all you like but it does not change the fact that even non hicks like myself have questions about the sincerity of the Muslims.
Judging a group of people based on a few's actions is ignorant. I am going to leave it at that. Go out and meet a muslim if you question the sincerity of Muslims. I am not talking about going up to the first Arab guy you see and introducing yourself, then saying, "Hey, he seems like a nice guy." Go out and get to know a Muslim, find out where he stands on terrorism, on religious issues, on moral issues, and then tell me you question the sincerity.
True, a lot of terrorists attacking the United States are Muslims. Two ex-US Armed Forces veterans terrorized the American public too. Should we be wary of them? Why not all the same fervorous fearmongering? Once again, it leads back to human (and especially American) xenophobia. They talk differently, look different, dress different, so there must be something wrong with them.
And Miller, I do know where you are and what you do. You are from South Orange County, same place I am. A bastion of American wealth and leisure. You are what, 14 years old? Surely you have experienced the harships and responsibilities of life with your upbringing, right? Please don't come with that argument.
