I am having problems with my optical mouse. It is a Logitech, not a gaming mouse, think its called the "click". Anyway when I'm playin BF2 I just start spinning, happens frequently , especially when I'm armor and looking back-n-forth. The turret just starts spinning round-n-round at a very high rate of speed. I have shut off the hardware acceleration to the mouse, but it still happens.
I was thinking of getting a better mouse, a Logitech, and just want to know what everyone else has as far as gaming mice goes. I was looking at 3 of them: the G5, G7, and the mx518(I think that was the name). Looking for advice here

Does the 1600 -vs- 2000 pixel, really make any difference ?. mx518 has 1600 and G5 has 2000, one is optical and other is laser, any real game differences here ?

yes with the 200 you turn A LOT faster and it helps in armor and with you got gay ass bunny hopers in the karkand allys

wrong. i have both mouse, but i use the G5 coz the sides have better grip, whilst the G7 is just plastic

Same here and I love it. Takes a bit to get a feel for it but once you do it's on.

A friend has an MX 1000 and thinks it is better but he is a tard.

I have MX1000 and i love it! But i wouldn't tell someone to got it, the same way that i wouldn't tell someone to buy anything. Its a personal preference

I just went out and got the G5 last week and it is awsome. the grip is great and it does make a diffrence switching between diffrent dpi. The weight system is ok i guess didn't see much of a diffrence though. Before the G5 I had a wireless logitec mouse and it would lag every once in a while and now that I went back to a wired mouse I can tell the diffrence. So i would recomend the G5 over the G7 plus the G7 is just plastic and doesn't have the grip.

No, it doesn't matter, for a few reasons.

1. Tanks have a max turret turn speed, once you hit that it doesn't matter.

2. I HIGHLY doubt you have your sensetivity turned up all the way, mine is about half-way up and my mouse goes across my screen in about 1/3 the IRL space at 1600 dpi. At full it's absolutely uncontrollable, and that is the only place where the dpi makes any difference.

The MX518 also has more buttons than the G5, and to me it makes alot of difference. I haven't met anyone as of yet that has used both the MX518 and the G5 and still prefers the G5.

Great for altering mouse speed for tanking, grunting, and sniping. Ive mine set to 3 speedas all accessible from top of mouse, 2 side buttons, the 2 usual, and a extra wee thing right on the top, great for reload.

A mate bought one, and three of us followed suit after a blatter with it.

MX518 here too. I prefer the two left side buttons on the MX518, versus the G5's scroll-wheel left/right clicks (and single left side button).

Sniping at 400, tanking at 1600, run-in-gun at 800 dpi.

g5 is very very good, Laser baby just keep it at 2000dpi and bring down the sens in bf2,windows etc.

g5 also had huge feet pads for gliding!, with a steelpad s&s its amazing x2000!

Thats what I sport, and I love mine. The roommates hate it, but I have it set up just the way I like it.

Seriously though, go to Best Buy or CompUSA and spend 15 minutes in the mouse aisle. Try everything, see how it fits in your hand, and *then* buy something. Just 'cause I love it doesn't mean you will.

I have G5 now i am a leftie though and at the time it was only rightie. 2000 dpi and change on the fly. It has removable weights also but you probably already know that .

Oh and yes I turn alot faster in a tank when I put the res on 2000. I guess i could fraps it to show you.

The DPI Switch on MX518/G5/G7 is a nice Marketing feature - nothing else.

I prefer the MX518 over the G7 because it's not-wireless and i prefer the MX518 over the G5 because it got more thumb buttons.
