I was in class. World Civialization. And we were discussing Muslims, and how certian sects tend towards terrorism and violent extremeism, with the 90's bombing of the WTC as an example. Now, this teacher and the other World Civ teacher were known for playing jokes on each other. So when the other one came in and told him to turn on the TV, we were stunned. No joke about this all.

*cues up the Twilight Zone theme*

Edit: Then we all were talking about how we should thank our parents for our behinds being born in rural Kentucky. Nothing ever happens here.

I was late for work, and heard about plane one in the subway. " NBD I had been in both and knew they were built to the balls " Then I heard it was an Airliner. At work I watched the second plane hit. I thought " attacks ".

When the first building dropped I thought " This is just the Wrong angle to see it, its still there, They mean some glass fell out of the top story, It didn't fall " than I watched the second one drop from my office window. I thought " we are at War". We will be needed. I ran tons of cable over to set up communication centers for the massive triage center that was being set up at Javits.  War planes were tearing back and forth across the sky. It scared some people I would say " those are ours ". The cops had taken the American Flags out and had them in the middle off 7th ave which everyone was staggering north on ( later no cop I talked to could remember who put them out there ) Then I headed down town to try and pitch in. By the time I got goggles and a mask it was to late. my eyes burned like hell. When I went home I walked up 7th ave and there was not one car. By the time I got walked home about 36 hours later my clothes had this funny electrical smell like a transformer that is getting to hot. People came from all over to help. Backhoes and cranes lined the streets in Que like a free rock concert was being given for heavy machinery. Some were from south Carolina, how they got there so fast I have no idea. Restaurant owners were setting up tables with portable burners making meals for workers. flat beds filled with every kind of soft drink were headed in bumper to bumper. We all acted as one. Untill Hillary came.
Wow Horseman.
You just took me there.

Would that follow the same for the people who reacted to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor?
Yes, correct grammar was in effect during the early 40s...

Sorry... Got confused and ahead of myself. I'm posting from work so I misinterpreted what you were saying. It's hard to read the posts, do my work, and look over my shoulder at the same time I am doing this.

Basic Training, if I remember right I was doing pushups because I tripped in formation.  When I got to like, i dunno 37, a Master Sargeant runs up to my T.I. and says, "(T.I.'s name), The trade center towers been attacked get your flight inside".  We were locked down for a day or two.  Sirens soon started going off on base and everything, and we were watching the news in horror the whole day.  It was a very dark day.  And I think it lit a fire under our asses that day.

Me and my parents had been in NYC in July, and we were staying in a friends apartment which was only 2 blocks away from the WTC.  I'm glad I got to see it once in my lifetime

I was in school and the teachers only told us that the WTC had burned down, that was it until I got home

I slept through the first part until I was woken up to hear the news on the radio. I have no TV, but I was on the net in the next moment.

I was in bed when my brother came in and said somebody just crashed into the WTC.

Didn't go to any of my classes that day, even though we had a test in one of them (found out the next day it was obviously canceled), stared at the tv for the next 14 hours.

I was up late playing RA2 as the Russians in Washington D.C....

Felt rather guilty after blowing up the Whitehouse when my Dad came in and told me about what happened.

Wow reading everyones reply really brought me back "Chills".

I drive for UPS here in Tampa. I was out starting my route and when I got to my first stop someone ran out of the store right up to me and said "Did you here a plane ran into the WTC" . I was like no and my immediate thought was an accident but still "WOW'. I text my girlfriend and asked her about it since I was on the road with no radio, she said, "another one just hit the other tower. Then like most I put it together, well, somewhat. I knew the US was under direct attack but I thought this was really planned out for just terrorism. ( I know that sounds dumb know but at the time we didn't know any better) Over the next hour I kept getting messages like a plane just hit the pentagon, one of the towers fell, the other tower fell, a plane went down in PA. I cant tell you how hard it was to work without knowing what was going on. I was on a route that had a mall on it and all but 2 stores sent everyone home. Those two stores did not have much bussiness to say the least. They did infact have TV's showing what was happening and the perfect word for how I felt when I saw the footage of the planes hitting was SUREAL.  I went home and prayed. I was really proud of the way our nation and our  "Nation friends" freinds came together after it to support us. I'll never forget the lines to give blood or the sudden outpouring of "Are you ok".

I'll never forget watching the Daily Show after it. This was a show I turned to for comical relief. Things really came into perspective after seeing John Stewarts remarks.

I was in 7th grade.  i remember being called back to home room, and they made an announcement over the loudspeaker.  None of us really grasped the enormity of what happened.

Fresh out of 11pm-7am nightshift, I was eating watching the Today show when they cut to smoke from the tower. I went and got my g/f at the time up and we saw the second plane hit.

It was the week I finished flight school for the Navy...and I was airborne with other jets when they told us we had to turn around and head back to the airfield.  By the time we got back to the ready room both towers had been hit.  Sure fired us up...and made us want to get out to tactical squadrons.  I'm just glad I was finished with flight school because I was able to fly in support of OEF and OIF off of the Kennedy and the George Washington for a little payback since then.
