my game keeps crashing when it says join after it loads the level and verifies the client data. 2 days ago i got bf2:sf and that lightning.fx thing kept coming up so i uninstalled it, i dont know if that has any thing to with it. please help me , i want to play bf2 so bad
Adding SF can cause this issue because of installing & patching sequences ... uninstall the games and reinstall in this order:
(1) Install BF2
(2) Install BF2 SF
(3) Install the FULL 1.3 patch (I think it is 458 MB)
Let us know the results

No ... many players have had big problems with the 1.3 incremental patch ... it is safest to use the 1.3 FULL patch, and you know it is the full patch because it is about 448 MB.batl_m wrote:

no, the incremental is just the changes made since the previous patch, the full patch is every change made since the game began, basically every patch put together

I had the same problem, once I installed sf I patched everything up to 1.3 and the lightning.fx thing was fine
thank all i got the 2 of them working again ......... or not the same problem as above the game crashes when i try to join a server

you could try having auto ready on, it will take longer once it has verified the client data but it might work

Install it this way
Install Bf2
Patch BF2
Install BF2 SF
Patch BF2 Sf
Works for me, had around 3 CTD's.. not much anyways
