I am planning to overclock my cpu to 3.9 ghz, from 3.0 ghz.

The idle temperature for my cpu is around 40 - 43 , no doubt that when i overclock it will get hotter.

Can anyone give me some advice on cooling?

I dont care about the noise level, i just want performance!!

Thanks, Dan.

well ur cpu may not even reach 3.9 stably... even w/ good cooling it all depends on the chip. i would suggest tuniq tower 120, cheaper and better than low end water cooling.

k then why do you need better cooling... if your cooling is stable now then no need, but if want to play safe get the tuniq tower 120

The reason why i didnt keep it at that is because i had no idea what it would do to the cpu until i read more about it, then i realised i better be safe with sum cooling.

What is the price on the tuniq tower 120?

50 US dollars. they had test w/ intel cpu overclocked from 3.8 to 4.3ghz, stock heatsink wont boot and the cooler at 1000rpm was at 63 degrees C and 2000rpm only 59 degrees full load.

dude if ur at idle at 43, ur doin something wrong. intels do run hot though. except the newtest chips. they finally got it right. im thinkin of goin blue in a year if AMD doesnt start producing a better chip. even the low end conroe is godamn nice now.

amd still is better on the memory bandwidth imo though

get those idle temps down a bit. or get a good water set up. but avoid kits if u can. just do some research.

i would recommend the thermalright xp120 hs, or their newer one which i hear is better. that should get your temps down. but i dont think youll hit 3.9 on AIR. i mean it's possible but not likely, 3.6 seems more the range u would hit

but ya it all depends on the stepping etc..who knows

What CPU is it?
The only chip I can think of capable of that, which starts at 3.0Ghz, is a Pentium D.

Why the hell do you need a 3.9 GHz processor, and need it bad enough to risk your processor like that. About 30% boost, geez.
