Ey peepz!

i just wondered, in 99.9% of the websites, ABR is not mentioned in the patch changes.
and i really wonder why!

in 1.4B1 Dice fixed theServer-side for ABR to work again.
in 1.4B2 Dice fixed also the client side for us.

Meaning : why is this the most under-discussed topic of 1.4?

Question : How much would you like a play a 'ranked' mod for BF2?


as bf2s the ULTIMATE stats community around BF2 i ask you, gimme some pointers here!

ABR indeed stands for ALternative Battlefield Ranking.

next to EA's official ranking system, this is the only system that comletely assimilates EA's system, but available for everybody.
Tournaments, Mods etc, can create their own ranked space.
better yet, BF2s could display that information without big changes.

Since patch 1.3, a ranking deterrent was build in this new 'fix'
After kicking the right people, i managed to talk with dice on this matter, along with some other mods.

Eventually, they agreed to fix our system, as its completely free, and without any strings attached.
the 1.4b2 patch contacins ABR tailored code, to moka our alternative ranking system work exactly like EA's.

Current participating mods : Project Reality, Operation PeaceKeeper, Battlefield 1918, Rise Of Kobol, Paintball mods, and many more, with the Patch 1.4 final in sight.

the ABR team, set a goal for the lifetime for the ABR system, this lifetime is set for 5 years.
Which means, that the ABR  system will be operable for 5 years  from now.

best of all, ABR is completely free, centralized, and 200% customisable.

so now you know.

I have to admit that the ABR team startedaccusing the PoE team of purposely creating the exatly same stats system and not using ABR. In truth its a entirely different one. I think that got resolved now though.

cuz maybe stats are - more or less - meaningless to some people. even if you cannot glitch, exploit and pad, i would want the game to work properly (nearly bugfree and balanced) first. stats on a not (almost) perfectly working game suck anyway... of course the game is more fun when you can play to earn unlocks (Will there be new unlocks wit the ABR? cuz that would rock! ), medals, ribbons and badges (this is the reason why I play) and I would love to play mods that are ranked. but as long as the game is so buggy it crashes every 4th round round you play the stat system is the last important thing to fix - also EA/DICE has done quite a good job making their own stat system work properly...

on the first versions of bf2 it was very easy to earn points (flaghopping in choppers etc.) i remember rounds where 10 people had over 300 points at the end. but also it was a lot harder to get the ranks. then suddenly the game gets patched and you end up being promoted 3 times in one round - but suddenly it is much harder to score the way u used to play. and people start finding new ways to own (attack choppers, jets and not forget to mention the noobtube). then it all gets changed again with the next patch and people adapt again and so on...

By now i think the stat system is balanced out quite nicely and the priority goes to fixing the bugs (thank goodness!), although many of the people who used to cheat and pad didn't get their stats reset and still have their points. maybe they should reset stats with every patch - but then on the other hand all the people who dont cheat lose their unlocks and that would suck even more!
