The great EA and DICE decided that we could eliminate only the Scan and UAV, leaving the commanders to obliterate us with the artillery. The last C4 is to blow up any cars that try to run you over. All this was decided in their divine and all-knowing wisdom!

By the way, I was being sarcastic!

EDIT:

EA/DICE: (After Gamers complains about EA/DICE taking away a C4 from the ideal 6) Well Gamers, maybe you can take a little consolation in knowing that something you play is making so many people happy.
Gamers: Oh, look at us! We're making people happy! We're the magical men, from Happy Land, living in gumdrop houses on lollipop lane! (They leave the forum, then poke their heads in through the post-box) Oh, by the way, we were being sarcastic. (They leave again)
EA/DICE: Well, duh. [But we still won't do anything about it]

This was copied from a great Simpsons episode - Flaming Moe's.
Original transcript follows:

Marge: (After Homer complains about Moe taking credit for the Flaming Homer) Well Homer, maybe you can take a little consolation in knowing that something you created is making so many people happy.
Homer: Oh, look at me! I'm making people happy! I'm the magical man, from Happy Land, living in a gumdrop house on lollipop lane! (Leaves the room, then pokes his head in through the door) Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic. (Leaves again)
Marge: Well, duh.

Well, on a full-size map, there are three artillery pieces, a UAV shack and a radar dish to take care of.

That takes (Maths time, kids!) ten packs of C4 to deal with.

Now, if I use my full load of 5, how many do I need to finish the job?  That's right!  5!  Which is one more full load.  So, either send a request for a resupply crate, or when you go on your demo mission bring a second person.

Y'know, that crazy teamwork thing?

Please read my first post, two above. Also, that is all well and good MrE, but a loss of two fighting forces to your team would be devastating. I can see your point of view, however.

i like to use the sniper kit which has only two claymores, but on a full 64 players server there are 32 enemies dice should give the sniper class 30 more claymores to take care of every hostile soldier...

there is something called "balancing".. maybe that's why the spec op only got 5 pieces of c4

hmmm cause the 5+ standing around waiting for plane/chopper/armor is ok tho?? 2 people is far from devistating infact it might help you to survive if the opposing commander decides to protect hs assets beofre there destroyed.

Perhaps, but those *jerks* who stand around waiting for jets are annoying. Unless they were their first - ie. in the jet and got blown up, so go back again. But I also don't like people who constantly go in jets. You just can't please some people, can you?

I did indeed read your post, and got the Simpsons reference first time round.

I've only been playing a few months, and wasn't aware that Spec-Ops used to carry 6 packs of C4.  Honestly, I think it's better at 5, mainly for the reasons I mentioned above.

With 5 packs, it's better if it's not just a single Spec-op.  It's better for his survival and the success of the mission if two go in.  This encourages teamwork, and the game (at least on the public servers) is so desperately lacking in teamwork that I applaud any attempt to encourage it.

Sure, if you're playing with small teams, then two guys disappearing for half the round is going to hurt.  But on small maps there's less stuff to blow up, so it means less.  However, take this scenario:

A full 64-man server.  Doesn't matter what map.  Two guys on one of the teams form a small squad, both as Spec-Ops, and jump in a buggy.  They circumvent the lines of battle, and reach the enemy base.  First, they blow up the artillery pieces, then the scanning systems.  Then they hang around for a while.  Any engineer that comes near the assets has to deal with two guys with carbines, so unless the engineer has backup, he's screwed.  If the enemy commander drops supply crates to try and fix his toys, the Spec-Ops team can reload on C4 from the box, then grenade the crate and blow the assets up again.  Now, if they stay there, the team that's suffering this attack can either divert serious numbers of troops to dislodge them (you'd probably need a full squad, if the Spec-Ops hide well), or spend the entire round without radar, UAV or artillery.  That's GAME-WINNING.  Hell, while they're there, they might even be able to find the enemy commander and assassinate him a few times, causing more disruption to his team.  On a full server, I'd be more than happy for two of my teammates to devote their time to this kind of disruptive operation, since it makes life a hell of a lot easier for those of us back on the front lines.

It's things like this that the Spec-Ops class is designed to do.  Their gun is kinda weak and they have no armour, so the front lines are a risky place for them.  Small, sneaky squads can do all sorts of damage, and it doesn't have to be direct ticket-taking to be productive.

that is why, on a server, when I am specops, youusually find me at the enemy base. and usually,I can easily keep the enemy assets down permenantly. commanders dropping supply crates are great. it's even better if they drop it so that the supply crate isn't blown up w/ the asset.
