I am looking for something like the u3 software that comes preloaded on some USB memory sticks, but that I can put on my own USB stick.  I am looking at trying to take some applications with me.  Anyone know where I can find a program like this?  I've been looking for a few days and have given up.  (Luke, you're my only hope)

Ubuntu Linux is small enough for a 5Gb drive (and will work well enoguh).

You can also make a Custom install of Windows Server 2003 that fits inside 1Gb.

For the USB keys the computer your booting on needs USB Legacy support.

Damn Small Linux can be installed onto a thumbdrive as well.  I prefer Puppy though.

True, in that light how many people have legacy support for USB boot devices?  What mobo do you have and what chipset?
