the release of conroe might be moved forward to the 17th. clicky. might not be true though as the inquirer is not exactly known for its reliable news.

i was shocked by this as well, saw a thread about it on THG and anandtech. but i still cant get it until august when i come back from my vacation

sadly the multiplier is low so overclock will be teh hard. unless the XE chip has an unlocked multiplier (i dont think it does since most overclock tests had 11X)

it sure did so no need to really OC. conroe has the Overclocking potential of AMD cpus and faster instrucion per clock

And shorter wider pipes, so less clock cycles wasted excuting a CPU Pipe Flush. I wonder how the L1 cache has been worked in (as some call that a weak point on the p4)

Either way, I think it will be hard to find these when they come out.

heard L1 cache is 64kb. i think its 14 stage pipeline. once i heard a guy uber oced the conroe, it went to 5.2 ghz... then mobos volt regulators blew up, smoke everywhere. conroe still lives.

Well, here we are: The last week of July. As for chipsets slated to support it, the Q965, the G965, and the 975X are the only released chipsets rated to support it. This is per 6 figure Intel employee. Take it for what that's worth to ya.
