EA/DICE's extremely poor track record with patching BF2 is definitely steering me towards ETQW but it's anybodys guess which will be the better game overall. ID provides the engine, but QuakeWars is developed by Splash Damage - developers of RTCW and Enemy Territory, IMO 2 best team based online FPS games. BF2 had potential to be the best game in this category, but...stryyker wrote:

But then you have Firestorm, who spends more time as commander, sitting in a tank with a UAV above him doing jack shit for his team. I can think of at least 3 ROE's he broke just by doing that. He gets wiped and a few days later HE GETS HIS SHIT BACK!? What in the bloody fuck. I suppose it has nothing to do with the fact he was No 1. in the world, or the fact he is an admin at one of the most popular gaming community's in the Battlefield universe. I doubt very seriously if anyone on these forums can name another person who was wiped and then got their shit back. This is a game, I intend to play it as a game, not as a world with laws with fines and punishments. I choose to play free, fun, and to the best of my interest, not in a manner of how others TELL ME I will have fun. I will have fun doing WHAT I think is fun. They are normal BF2 players like we are, but we have fun with playing the game and they have fun with looking at players stats and who can get a reset!!! Remember it's just a computer game in a virtual world!!!

The main reason for some of the stupid rules is STATS.
I mean if there was no stats to get or unlocks, then they would be no stupid rules saying what you can and can't do.
Also its the main reason there is no team play in this game is the Stats, nobody cares about anything but points, ranks and unlocks, its everyman for themselves.
99% of gamers just play for Stats, this causes cheating, stat padding and the need for ROE.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy going for stats and stuff, hell I probably wouldn't be playing now if it wasn't for them.
But if you want rid of the stupid rules, then the only way is to get rid of the stats system, do this then team play should start, cheating should decrease.

I'm sure there is nothing I or anyone else can do to sway their minds on anything, they have power. They have the power to get people wiped, to take away people's hard work for whatever reason they see fit. Do you really think they would just "give it up" because some random dude made a thread in thier forum? Hell no. If someone came to BF2s and said "I think B.Schuss abuses his power, here is the proof." would you just say, Ohh....well, I don't guess I need to be a moderator anymore, see ya later guys. You're a great guy, but I seriously doubt you or any admin on any site would just "give it up" because somone, or in this case %85 of the community, thinks they should.
Second, no one believes that the RoE project will be abandoned altogether. EA and they guys who run the project have simply invested too many resources to give up on it now, whatever the criticism. That's not the point, and I think you are very well aware of that.
My point is that the RoE are very much a project still under construction. They are constantly revised and updated, and I think you'll find that the RoE as they are now are very different from earlier versions.
bf2rs.com needs your input. They ask for it. They even have set up a subforum just for that purpose.
Opinions on the RoE may vary, but they are just that, opinions. True, the guys at bf2rs.com have the final say, but at least we have a chance to make our voices heard and give some feedback, which is more than could have been expected from EA..
In that regard, rants or whining won't help much, since those only prove that you are not interested in a construcive debate about the topic. That's fine, but don't be surprised if nothing changes then...
The important prerequisite for change is the belief that change is posible. You seem to have lost that at some point. I do hope you'll find it again though.
