IMO it's impossible to drop vehicles with that much accuracy.

In the 1.3 v2 patch they say this will be fixed.

My guess is that it will just drop the car randomly in the area you want.

I'd like it if a C-130 came and dropped it.

What do y'all think?

Edit: And they're giving us a new map too.

theyre not gonna make it random. that woudl defeat the purpose of having the commander actually use it helpfully. maybe if you click on an artilerry cannon with the drop, itll prolly either blow up the vehicle when it lands on it, or itll just drop it nearby. and its not impossible. i did it on my first try.

I mean it's impossible in real life.

I think the vehicle drops should land within saaaaay 20m of the target. So you can;t drop them on the oponents helipad.

it will have some random movement in it.  Similar to the supply crates.  if you notice they don't land exactloy where you place them.

edit

I can't wait either.  I hate cartillery.

Just make vehicle drops available on request only. That would fix almost all of it. And if there is an enemy within 2 meters of the drop zone = no drop

As mentioned earlier, the most likely thing is to make it drop like the supply crates, makes sense. At the moment destroying the artillery of the enemy team is an almost mandatory task for me, except when US I can't do it with the DPV.

well, making it within 2 meter not possible would be an invitation for the enemy to stay exactly 2 M away fgrom your team, thus defating the object.

In my head; This is the solution to cartillery:
When you click on the "Drop vehicle"-button as commander the map should change so that there is red/grey colour over all houses, pointless mountains (snipers) and the enemy headquarters (blow up enemy heli/planes) which means that when you try to drop a car over this red area, you canĀ“t simply do it, you must drop it on a road or open terrain.

And about squashing people with the car, those people should just be pushed away a little bit when the car comes. Which will make commanders not so willing to drop cars on still-standing-enemies. (And please EA/Dice DON'T make it like this: The cars comes right above you, trying to squash you, but you are not killed, but you a pushed away..... downward under the earth, which make you see everyone through the ground (Karkand hotel- glitch) <----- a typical bug that use to come in patches.

Is this a good idea?

something like it but not 100%. yes turning the map into red (where you cant drop alright) but i was more talking about. places lets say the place were it can be dropped is already chosen ( so your now above a car drop place) something like that.

like your idea too

Not really (with the crates). I've found I can be very accurate with them - you just need to know where to aim.

I reckon that there should be vehicle free zones - like carriers.

Actually, supply crates land exactly 3 meters north of where you click.  This is why commanders can drop them on top of buildings, on cranes, or the top of a ladder.

Have to love cartillery.
Why waste a whole arty barrage on one sniper when you can squash them flat with a nice vehicle?
Currently in the kill box
numerous snipers
2 choppers on the move
no jets just waiting for another go

Why not just make is request only? Thats the way it should have been...besides, everyone is too "uber" these days for teamwork...

I love Cartilllary, It makes it a lot more fun to command! There's nothing quite like dropping a vehicle on a hovering little bird to make my day.

I really think the only change EA should make is for a drop to do less damage to artillery. A vehicle drop won't take out a tank. OTOH, five tank shells will always take out another tank, but will not blow up artillery. Clearly there is something wrong with that.

And yes, I have had a jeep land on my head while I was commanding - now I look for cover if I'm going to stay in one spot.

that's probably the best way to fix cartillery if the drop is within 20m of the squad leader making the request.

I'd personally like to see a circle on the ground where you want to drop it, and it can land anywhere in that circle.  That way you can avoid putting it on a building most of the time by say putting it dead center in the middle of a road, but not have the accuracy to drop it on snipers, flag capturers, etc.

I think a Herc should come and drop it roughly where you asked.

Although I must admit to being a regular offender of cartilary.

My way of avoiding it is to keep moving and take cover when taking flags.

ITs a pain in the butt. I was killed about 4 or 5 times in a round by it (once in the chopper) Its just another thing for noobs to use to their advantage.
