my mates got one with a 7600 something or other card . i got a game on it on the weekend . amazing graphics . the vehicles have round wheels and tyres the streets of karkand are cobbled everthing just looks amazing . i have a ATI Radeon 9550 256mb which totally sucks dogs balls .
i have a 128mb radeon in my old ass xps and i run on all high.
XPS Desktop or Laptop?
I have the XPS M170 (laptop) with 7800GTX go... everything on high
I have the XPS M170 (laptop) with 7800GTX go... everything on high
laptop everything on high
Im suprised that laptop hasn't over heated.
It probably has one of those beastly laptop coolers - the giant fan thing that bolts onto the bottom of the computer. I think if you put it on backwards the computer will hover around they're so big
I still don't think that can make up for it. The laptop is very thin and running BF 2 with a GoForce 7600. I don't think a 7600 can max out BF 2, i have a 7800 GTX but can't max it out. Its probable the patch.
9800 sucks penis
Yeah, I have a Radeon 9550 256Mb and I can run on all high. I get maybe 1 frame per month, but I'm on all high.
Seriously people, when you're talking about what graphics card can do what at what settings, at least give us a clue as to you fps.
I'm running 800x600, everything low except geometries on medium, and I get avg 50 fps so I can play the game. It doesn't look pretty , but I can play.

I would run my game with alot of highs with my 7800 GTX, but loading is a bitch.
No cooler... and it's a 7800 GTX go.... I just finish playing 3hrs staight and it's only 62C, my threshold is 115C.TehSeraphim wrote:

I do use a moded drivers, but that's it... I run every at high no sweat.......
The XPS Genaration 2 can be either of these configuration... 6800 GTX go, 7800 GTX go (my laptop) and the new and crazy 7900GTX go.-r3-anubis wrote:

The "GO" is very important as it's the laptop version, needs less power = less heat.
Also I have 2G of RAM...
I also have a XPS Gen 1, and I was playing @ medium no problem.
I don't know what is my FPS, but I don't have any lag.... and I play @ 1152x864 (That's the best setting for my widesreen LCD )DoctorFruitloop wrote:

I don't believe that. Thats bullshit.Buzerk1 wrote:

I can't force you to believe me.... but I don't gain anything by saying that too.... Just read a little about the Dell XPS Gen 2... I have the M170 and the new one is even better...-r3-anubis wrote:

My previous one (XPS Gen 1 with Mobile Radeon 9800) was heating a lot and the fan were going crazy to keep it cool. But with this one... it keeps cool and silent with kick a$$ performance...
Again, don't take my work for it, do some "google" and find out for yourself....
PS.: That's CELCIUS BTW... we use metric in Canada

When you get a Dell, just make sure all the hardware is capable of doing what it should. I know XPS's have a better reputation than most Dells, but several of my friends who bought Dells a few years ago have been privy to "Dell Edition" hardware's tendency to saw off necessary components...such as AGP slots, in favor of forcing a spendier upgrade down a user's throat.

My experience with Dell i with laptop only... and after 6 Dell (3 personal and 3 at the office), I never had any major problems and always good support from Dell Canada. I can only talk about my experience.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

True, Dell support is better than many other mfg's (Gateway...), but people should be careful if they ever want to upgrade one. Two of my friends had the AGP issue I mentioned when they went to upgrade their graphics for 3D applications and games, but were shocked to find that the port had been sawn off of Dell's edition of the motherboard which was, from the motherboard's site, perfectly capable of running AGP. So they were left with no alternative but to either buy a new motherboard, or a plain old PCI video card. One just bought a new custom-built PC, and I dunno about the other.Buzerk1 wrote:

dell is gross, motherboards are a nightmare, especially for the price :S
the difference between the 9 series of ATI and the 7 series of NV is big tho

For Desktop...HIGH end Desktop? Build yourself, you will be better off when you want to upgrade... but for laptops.... Dell and Toshiba are the best..... Some will say Sony...unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Now how do you guys say you can run with medium-high settings? An ATI Radeon 9550 is equivalent to an NvidiaFX card and none of those cards can max out Bf 2 with more than 10 frames.

i have a dell its not an xps, but its got gig of ram and a ATI x800 256mb i can run everything on high but i dont because of loading times and my frame rate drops quite abit so i run mostly on medium.
I am right then, if a X800 which is a pretty good ATI card can't max out BF 2 without some frame issues, then a 9700 or 9550 or some low end ATI card CANT max out BF 2.
