Currently running 2 x 1GB PC3200 in dual chan. I also have a spare 512 PC3200 sitck around.

SOOOOoooo.

Best to run 2.5GB in single chan mode, or 2GB in dual chan mode???

Any thoughts?

dual........simply because runnning single will lower your system bandwidth and defeat the whole purpose of the increased RAM in the first place

YEah, thats what I was originally thinking. Guess I am gonna chuck the other 512 on ebay.

Be catious about Mixing up RAM (EVEN in single chanel mode)

It will run all sticks at the bandwith (PC????/?Mhz) of the slowest. And all sticks at the latencys (CAS?,?,?,?) of the slowest stick.

Cheers, thanks for the advice. I have decided to sell all my old hardware that I dont use.

Tv tuner, extra RAM, old HD's.. EBay here I come/

also sometimes ram even when they are from the same chips (winbond bh-5 for example) will not run together at all because the SPDs are different.
