hey guys
i recently decided that 512 mb RAM sucks and that i need more RAM (RDRAM).  I cannot find this cheap anywhere, so if anyone has any suggestions where to find it cheap, id be grateful.  Also i am getting a new vid card because i think i fried my Radeon 9700 AGP (theres little dots all over the screen).  I am also getting a new power supply.  So if anyone has any suggestions for the RAM/Vid Card/ Power supply in the $300-400 price range total, itd be greatly appreciated.  i will also post stuff here later if i find anything to see if u guys approve.  THanks

edit: also, are all power supplies the same size, so i kno it'll fit in my pc?

yes that seems right.  so instead of buying the RDRAM, should i just upgrade my vid card and power supply?
keeping my system at 512 RAM, because i prolly wont be able to save up for a new system entirely unless i borrow money from someone.

dots on ur screen mean that the RAM on ur grafix card is either getting to hot or is already dmged.

make it so a fan blows some air over the vid card with luck that will fix it. If not then the ram is already dmged and noway of fixing that.
For a vidcard atleast try tog et a geforce 7600 as it has an ok price with good performence.

for the ram if u mean Rambus (RDRAM) try to get it 2nd hand dont buy it new.
RDRAM is fecking expensive, cruise ebay and get some ofit 2nd hand maybe u can make a sweet deal.
cause buying RDram bnew is fecking expensive and ul have a hell of a hardtime selling it when u upgrade to a new platform so to be short buying new rdram is like throwing away money.

btw why do u need a new powersupply?
a mix of a nice vid card, powersupply and 2nd hand RDRam should be easy doable for 300.

I also have RDRAM and an ATI 9700 Pro. I recently added an additional 512 MB of PC1066 RDRAM for $188 from ZipZoomFly.com.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDe … de=80456-1

I can now run BF2 with all Medium settings, 1024X765 75Hz, 100% view dist, 2xAA, dynamic light & tex OFF.
1GB of RDRAM is plenty for BF2.

I believe that RDRAM has to be installed in pairs though as well.  So you will either need 2x256 or 4x128 to be able to have 512mb alone.  you can't have 2x256+1x512 I believe.

This is true.  so i'm looking at $168 for RDRAM, $70 for 420 W ps, and $150 for vid card

As far as video cards go, if you want a reliable one that can play BF2 on medium, get this http://www.computerhq.com/Sapphire_ATI_ … 52297.html

Can't help you with the PSU though.

cant state it enough ask friends or cruise ebay for RDram.
The amount of cash that ul spend for new RDRam ul nvr get it back when u sell it in a year orso if u even get rid of it around that point.

So either get it cheap 2nd hand or dont buy extra rama t all cause its throwing money away tbh.
