BF2S Forums Please, I need urgent help!

I've that happen to me once or twice before, no clue why it happened, but it just went away so I didn't worry about it...

Ok, when you are in regular bf2, EF and AF are both part of regular bf2. When you choose a SF server while still in regular bf2, for some reason the game shuts down and starts SF and it skipps the movies and log-in and goes streight to the server you chose. That is normal.

As for why you started SF and  the end result was Karkand... maybe your menu had a Karkand server in it and you accidently hit it. It  had to revert to regular bf2. That's my guess.

1.3 messed up the menu badly and there are all kinds of threads on this. Do a search and read up on the whole thing. You may find some helpful ideas.

Well I tried what you said spacebandit72 . I followed the SF shortcut, got to the server menu and choose a Warlord server but again, nothing happend. I'm to tired tot try anything else atm but thanks a lot for your help spacebandit72. Is it possible it could be a 1.3 glitch? Not just a menu muck up?

Ok I have tried again this morning and have only made little progress. I loaded up SF and tried to join a SF game, but as always it just flickered and put me back to the server select screen. Out of my anger I clicked a normal BF game and so SF cut out and loaded up regular BF. I then had a thought, once BF had loaded, it loaded at the map load screen, I exited that game and was back at the server list. I found a SF game and went to join that, of course BF cut out and SF loaded up, this is what I was hoping. Hopefully SF would load at the map loading screen.

But sadly, SF did load, it just didn't load the match, I was just put at the screen where you choose multi-player and stuff. I am really pissed off with this and I have no clue about computers what so ever so I'm really stuck. I have to go to school now but when I get back I think I am gonna un-install everything and the re-install like this: Regular BF2, SF expansion pack and finally, full 1.3.

If  anyone has any suggestion please do post.

Thanks for contacting EA Technical Support and for your interest with EA Games! I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with Battlefield 2 Special Forces. Do any other games work online? Do any other EA games work online?

However, it sounds like a corrupt entry in the registry. When such an occurrence happens, it’s best to manually remove all of the components to make sure that next installation does not run into the same issues. In order to fully uninstall Battlefield 2: Special Forces you must uninstall Battlefield 2 as well. To completely uninstall this software from your system follow the steps below.

You can manually uninstall the game by removing the files and registry keys associated with it. Be sure to follow these steps exactly as they appear to prevent accidental file/program deletion on your system.

To delete the save files:

Open My Documents.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
To delete the game files (in the default location):

Open My Computer.
Open the C drive.
Open the Program Files folder.
Open the EA GAMES folder.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
Close all open windows.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2:

Click on the Start button.
Click on Run.
Type regedit in the text field.
Click File and then choose Export.
Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click the plus sign next to Software.
Click the plus sign next to DICE.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2: Special Forces folder and choose Delete.

Click the plus sign next to EA Games.
Right-click and choose Delete on the Battlefield 2 folder.
Right-click and choose Delete on the Battlefield 2: Special Forces folder.
Click the plus sign next to Microsoft.
Click the plus sign next to Windows.
Click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion.
Click the plus sign next to Uninstall.
Right-click on the key named {04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B} and choose Delete.
Right-click on the key named {50D4CB89-AF34-4978-96DC-C3034062E901}and choose Delete
A Confirm Key Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
Close the WindowsRegistry Editor.
Battlefield 2: Special Forces is now completely removed from your system.

Install the game in this order:

1. Install Battlefield 2, then patch with Battlefield 2 v1.3
2. Install Special Forces Expansion, then patch again with Battlefield 2 v1.3

The Battlefield 2 v1.3 (438MB) update file will include all of the updates below:

This update is for Battlefield 2 users that have a clean install of the game and have not installed any patches.

The Battlefield 2 v1.3 Incremental (82MB) is for users that have the update version 1.21 installed.

Connection issues typically are caused by one or more ports being blocked by a firewall, router, or even your Internet Service Provider to help maintain security. These ports are the doorways used to send and recieve information between your computer and the server. You must configure your router/firewall to have the game's ports open in order to connect to the servers properly.

The ports for Battlefield 2 are as follows:

UDP ports:

You may also need to have your Internet Service Provider open these ports for you. For help configuring a firewall or router you may need to refer to the manufacturer.

GameSpy has it's own requirements for ports. You may want to check the requirements listed in the Working Around the Firewall/Proxy section of their site.

This does seem like a very solid solution, but the thing is, I know nothing about computers. Could someone do me a really big favor and try and write that up a little easier for me to read? Or, if there is someone who has some time on their hands, could they give me their MSN addy and they could maybe give me a step by step guide through MSN? I know this is taking the cheek a bit but I really do need help. If someone does decide to help me through MSN please leave your addy and I'll try and speak to you some time this evening as I'm going out today to watch the football. Thank you.

I need to know if this worked for anyone?  Would like see if it works before I go through all that trouble to uninstall and install again.
