I just got my Sergenat Major a few days ago...keep slogging at it, mate, and just play for the fun and when you get near you'll realise with surprise!

It said its gonna take me 80 days to get promoted. Since my new computer needs the hard drive replaced and this computer can't even run bf 2 without crashing. Thanks for the advice though. Ill try that.
back when i was a first sarge i was like i am never going to sergent major, and it took me a month and a bit to get the points, my honest advice play commander alot, and when your not play medic.
What i did during my long commanding time i just picked the kits i wanted to get expert on but didnt have the time, so i commanded whilst using these kits.
Also with my high commander score i got to the commander rank of 769 in the world which isnt to bad i suppose.
Bu think of it this way, once you reach that really long gap its only 10k to 2ndLT, after getting ym sergent major i went hard at work on my 2ndLT.
Stay off non city maps, play sharqi with a mate and get the MEC chopper, be gunner and just spawn rape TV station, or play karkand and armour/medic whore or play support.
Hope you get your new uber rank soon

yeah right now im at gunnery sargeant and it seems like it is going to take for ever to getthe points that i need to get to first sargeant but aftre that master sargeant is going to take forever!!
but ive just been working on my badges for now and trying to raise my fragrate up over 1 because when i started is a horrible n00b player that just whored medic trying to get points now i just try not to die as much and its kinda working out for me for now

the best way to get theres is having fun this applys to all ranks not just 1st sarge. The points will come racking in if you are having fun.

You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.
I got FrstSgt and quit playing for a bit. Or atleast, played a helluva lot less. It's been a couple months and I'm only at 30,200 something.
i feel the same exact way....im tired of this hill we have to climb....its the largest gap if i remember correctly.....25,000 points till your next rank?! come on now...there should def be another rank in there....cuz im at 38,000 now and im gettin pretty tired of it....actually started playin cs again just cuz its frustrating.
took me 6 weeks to do, no big deal, I enjoy the game enough to not have to think "omgz i wont make my next rank so why play?"

I feel exactly like you...im at 31 000 points something now...still on my way to 50k but its damn too long shall be a little something like an intermission lol....Plus im not medic whoring those time so points go in sloooooowly!
I ranked up yesterday to First Sergent YEAH!!! Now I begin the slow treck to Master...it took me 9 months to get here, don't think I will see Master with BF2142 coming out later this year....although my point production has improved a ton in the last few months (wish I could eliminate stats before corporal)..

its only a rank, play style is what matters and keep beeing a teamplayer it makes game more fun.

At first, yes. Then my holidays came up and I've been playing nearly non stop (my past 7 days of gaming on Xfire reached 81 hours of BF2 at one stage) And anyway, At the start of last week, I needed 18 000 points......Now I need 7000 soething. Soooo close, yet so far.
i know your pain bro i have like 32,000 and im i just want my next rank so bad.
I didn't think much about the journey to Sgt. Major :S
Just wait until you reach the 45,000 and Up Mark, Its taking me literally Forever.

well ive got a 25,000 point gap, captain to major, im on about 107400 so im getting close, can't wait
I think this is a good rank to sharpen your skills and focus on awards. The previous ranks are used just to kill and people become focused on their points not their skills. This rank forces the individual to focus on their skills because points are sooooo far away. I agree that 30,000 points is a kick in the rear though. Focus on your awards, skills, and medals, that should get you through.
agree. think im on 24000 at the mo, to be honest i kind of dont bother about the rank now more about trying to finish off getting some medals(which im quickly running out of), i dont think il be playing 2142 and stick to bf2 but even then im sure im gona get bored of bf2 again (i did a few months ago then got back into it) + all my uni mates arent playing as much now bc of leaving uni and stuff. so who knows if il ever reach that 50,000 mark

i need 359 points till 1st seargent and if i play 3 hours straight 2morrow will get it... then 40,000 till 2nd lieutanent
IMO that overly large gap is to allow people to get badges for Sgt Major just like the 12k gap between gunnery sgt and 1st sgt, and if that is the case; EA severly under-estimates the average BF2 player

Yeah, no fun. I am currently at 40000 pts. I think the second lt. should be at 40000 (lol), because next is at 60000. This is the biggest gap in the game.
