BF2S Forums can't play SF.. don't find a file named lightning.fx????

The issues are solvable by completely removing the bf2 installation, then reinstalling Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2:SF, Battlefield 2 Patch 1.3 Full.

Had that problem myself, til i reinstalled everything, and using the FULL 1.3 patch.

if you really dont want to, that's up to you..sit there and twiddle your thumbs for 45 minutes (which in this time would be max time for reinstalling )

So, I tried doing what the last poster said, but now when I try and join a server it loads and everything but then a message comes up saying that "this server does not allow modded files to be used" or something like that.... is this because I copied the files and so punkbuster thinks they aren't legit?

I had... still have a similar problem.  I was basically fucked because i got SF, and it wouldn't run, i got that same lightning.fx whatever shader error thing.  My buddy didn't tell me to re-install Patch 1.3 after installing SF so it got really messed up.  I got on the technical support thing on the ea site, and followed the directions, uninstall and re-install and realized i couldn't find my BF2 manual with the CD key.  Well, went back and forth with e-mails with EA over the issue for about about a week after panicking and doing system restore a few times and just generally sinking myself in deeper and deeper shit.  Well late last night a miracle happened.  I looked over on the ground a saw a shit colored cardboard box with a bunch of paper, books and envelopes and shit like that.  I went through it and guess what was on the very, very bottom of the fuckin thing?  My BF2 manual of course.  So now i have this half uninstalled game fucked up corrupter game on my computer, that is still in my documents, but i can't delete, and when i go to Add/Remove problems BF2 doesn't even register on there.  I tried to follow the directions to manually uninstall, but i can't delete anything because under this folder (C:\Documents and Settings\GaMerZ\My Documents\Battlefield 2\LogoCache\olddudeswithguns.com) theres a 1kb file called: odgbanner.png that i can't delete, and its preventing me from manually uninstalling Battlefield 2, so right now i'm just asking EA for more help and waiting for my buddy to come over and help me out with this.  If anyone can offer help don't hesitate to hit me up on here or xfire or something.

Had the exact same prob with the lightning.fx. Just uninstalled everything, installed BF2 then BF2SF and then patched it to 1.3. Works like a charm now
