Since 1.3, I have been playing EF an aweful lot. Ive also noticed that quite often, Im driving round in my trusty Challenger2 on full health, only to suddenly be killed by a T90 in a single shot....
First time, i just let it go. Didnt think nothing of it. However, its happened numerous times since then (must be at least 10 times).....

My only guesses are either im incredibly unlucky, some new hack has been released or that theres a bug in 1.3 that allows this to be more commonplace. Or maybe an engineer whos dropped an AT mine and then got into a tank someplace and is driving round whilst ive driven into this mine, and it is now registering it as a T90 kill as a pose to an AT mine?

There are supposedly spots on tanks that can register a 1 hit kill, I think it's a point where the turret connects to the chassis.  A sudden increase in it happening must be limited to EF, cos I haven't seen it in any of the other mods.

one shot tank v tank kill is to hit it off the chasis of the tank and make it bounce and hit the turret.

click on the video and it's a demonstration of the one shot kill.

Yeah, I already knew of it...never seen or done it though.
What I meant is, is that its happened to me a lot of times since the update - yet it never happened once prior to it...
Just wondering if anybody else had noticed it / had it done to them, that was all

That's called the C-ring, I aim for it all the time but it never does anything.  I've heard that hitting the front or back of the treads does half damage though.

Interesting, but there is no way to tell what that tanks health meter was, as the entire time he was in it, the bar was eclipsed by a big red "full health" sign that was super imposed over it.

I always ignore the C-ring, sure it can give a 1-hit kill, but the treads and the rear of the tank are far more reliable.  A TOW shot to the front tread will kill it in one hit.

It will probably take 3 shots to kill a tank with the side and rear treads (depends on how many 2 foot tall bumps they went over before running into you ).  2 hits to the front treads may kill it, the only problem with aiming at the front treads is the possibility that your shot hits the dirt and not the tank

Have you ever considered that you are getting hit by another enemy and the tank tank shot just finishes the job?

Yes hitting the treads from the front or back with an AT missile does alot of damage

I have not found an increase in the number of 1 shot kills to tanks post 1.3

I have found that post 1.2 if you drop an AT mine and then get in a vehicle, and someone runs over then mine then it say the name of your current vehicle kills them.
This is not 100% of the time, but does seem to happen a lot.

Given that a lot of player are engineers on the Euro Forces maps if seem the AT mine bug is a more likely culprit.

Hmmm maybe it is that then. Ive never noticed it prior to 1.3, but then I didnt play a lot of EF before then (Im really into it atm). Then again, I rarely use armour outside EF!

Yes, It can happen over ten times, probably a hundred times.
One shots happen. But more often then not your taking damage from other players not just hte tank

It looks like tank shells go farther now too.  Not as much bullet drop.  Of course I could be wrong.

The same thing happened yesterday to me and a teammate. He got two BTR-Kills when an enemy drove over an AT-Mine.
But I can't remember getting kill-assists...

To answer your question - YES!
You can now bring down armor and choppers in BF2, SF's, and Euro with one or two hits.  I've tested being the shooter and the shootee and it looks like EA has taken another deep long stroke and shafted us again.  Also, a warning about when you hear the alarm go off in a chopper - forget the flares - you will get hit no matter what.  With 1.3 I've seen AA missiles go around and over hills and structures to find it's target.

This is probably because they are tired of hearing the noobs {new money} cry about being killed and having no fun because of us Chopper and Armor whores.  At least EA lowered the requirements this time so we still have a chance of getting our Expert Badges.

I think the next thing that needs to be "Fixed" on the the next patch is the person who doesn't consult the gamers or properly test the patch before it's released - I'll be glad to hold him down while someone cuts his little soldier off.

Agreed.  All you can do is proactively take out AA.  Which effectively renders the chopper nearly useless in any area other than anti-anti-aircraft.  And as soon as all the AA is taken care of, some asshole in a J-10 takes you out.

Which leads me to my next point.  How fair is it that the J-10 can outmaneuver heatseekers, while the F-35B cannot?

I'm pretty sure they nerfed the award requirements so that by the time BF2142 comes out, we're all satisfied enough with our award collection to run out & buy.

Old thread, but yeah, I've noticed in AF (don't have EF) that the 1-shot wonders have been on the rise.

On the flipside I've also noticed that it's taken me 5 or more shots with a tank to take down another tank, or even an APC frequently.  Sure makes you change your strategy when you have 2 hits on a tank and you used to KNOW that 3rd hit would do him in, despite your own heavy damage.  Now, if you don't see fire on that baby after hit #2 you may as well go off and repair and hope for a lucky shot later.

Well, secretsofbattlefield doesn't have the challenger2 on their list of things to hit YET.... But the problem with the C2 is that the "weak" spots are a LOT bigger than on the M1A2 or other "flat" tanks. At the same time, they're easier to hit because of the sloping of the tanks armor. So getting the "double" hit that you need to take out a tank with a single AP shot is a LOT easier on the C2. The way to get the double hit is NOT to aim for the C-ring, but a few cm (real size, in game experience a few pixels will do) below the C-ring, getting a "bounce" from the armor and then hitting the C-ring or turret with the bouncing shell. This way you register TWO hits on the tank with the same shot. And if the first hit did any real damage the second one WILL kill you. Result: One shot = One kill.

Sure you can do the same to the T90, but unless he's parked on a slope facing you JUST right, you need to get a LOT closer than he does, or you need to be VERY acurate with the C2. So you ARE at a disadvantage against a T90 if the driver is any good.

I know this sucks balls, because the reason the tank was DESIGNED with these "slopes" is EXACTLY to avoid the AP shots going through the armor (and ofcourse to provide a low radar profile aswell). It's something to blame the game mechanics on, not the tank design. I freggin' hate the C2 aswell. The only reason I EVER drive it is because I need some more EF time to get value for my €9.99.
