OK, I am not disclosing them name of the company, since that might effect the grade given and I am sure there is alot of hate or despise for them, over priced or something  for not as much quality... well, here it is:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ with HyperTransport Technology
Power Supply: 650 Watt ATX 2.0 Power Supply
Motherboard: nForce 4 SLI Chipset Motherboard PCI Express
Memory: 1GB Dual Channel Low-Latency DDR PC-3200 at 400MHz - 2 x 512MB
System Drive: High Performance - 80GB Serial ATA 3.0Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ NCQ & 8MB Cache
Primary CD ROM/DVD ROM: 16x DVD-ROM Drive with Software DVD Decoder
Graphics Processor: 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce 7600 GT - DVI Dual Link Supported
Video Optimizer: Video Performance Optimizer
Sound Card: Integrated High-Performance 7.1 Surround Sound with S/PDIF and Coaxial Digital Outputs

A couple of questionsL

First: will it ruyn on high video settings?
Second: Should I spend an extra 50$ in 2gb of ram, is it that important.
Third: Is sound that important, I can deal without it(or at least without good sound)

Fourth: who do you guys think it is?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, here is the edit for price: 1120$

1 should do i never had mine high so i wouldn't know.
2 yep if you want to load maps faster etc.
3 yep

Alienware sucks ass. You could build one much better for almost half the price of any retailer.

bit hard to rate if we dont know the price.

but from what you got it looks like an ok midrange gaming comp, althought you could do with more ram if you want to run high and the processor is a little old.

Sounds like a Dell.

Anyway, an AMD 3000+ is getting a little outdated, but everything else looks okay.

Good specs there,
1. Definitely run on high settings, my 6600GT almost does
2. You need alot of RAM to run a beautiful game on BF2 so def. go for more RAM
3. Sound is very important, when it is set to high then the game sounds amazing
4. Don't know what you mean by who do you think it is? Santa?

how much are you paying? it is defenetely not a high performance system. Might want to build yourself.

I do think I need to update the CPU, can I upgrade that later, or do I hae to do it now in the base price?

I would get something better now so you don't have the hassle later. There's a lot to do when upgrading to a new CPU and it can be very complicated for someone who is not "computer savvy".

I can build 10x that computer for that price..... I'm thinking it should be closer to $600ish.

questions answered:
1 dunno, don't have that card
2 2 gigs all the way
3 Built in sound is great on most boards now.  I use built in 7.1 with 7.1 speakers and it's SWEET... but I'm no audio-geek.

i would get a better hardrive. i know WD has a 200gb 7600rpm SATA 3.0 16mb cache for about $80, i think.
i would also go for a better processor, maybe an x2 3800. get 2gigs of ram. then you will have a schweet system. if you do some shopping on newegg, you can probably get that for about the same price with modified motherboard/ram brand/etc.

i got my system (P4E @3.4, 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2, 2x 80GB WD caviars (same as raptors, but 7200rpm), x1900xt 512mb, Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS platinum, Intel PCI-E mobo, Thermaltake Xaser III case) for about 1200 total....

1. Yes but dont expect extremely high FPS. I predict 25-35.
2. Yes, worth it ( 2x 1g)
3. Atleast get a cheap sound card like Audigy SE or Audigy II (SE = £20, II = £40)
4. ???

Don't get 2 gigs, bf2 runs about 600-700 MB of RAM.. 2 gigs would be good to do some virtual PC.

I have an X-Fi X-Treme Music or whatever it is called.  I have very mixed feelings about the experiences I've had with it.

On the one hand..
The Good:
------------
-Sounds fairly nice!
-Primary benefit is when I'm wearing headphones, because the surround sound with only stereo headphones is very good.

and then on the other..
The Bad:
----------
-Don't notice much difference between this and my old Hercules Game Theater XP with my Logitech Z-680 5.1 sound system.
-Pretty pricey, even for the X-Fi Music model which I got (was like $140USD, after tax).
-My X-Fi music didn't support digital out, I had to buy a $14.00 dongle thing which was only available through the Creative E-Store, and was out of stock for 3 weeks straight after I had initially bought the card.
-The drivers take up roughly 700MB? Wow, that's pretty dumb.
-Creative doesn't seem to care about their customers.  They have got forums which tons of users posting issues and only 1 or 2 *official* admins, who post *occasionally* at best.  I never got any replies about my questions from them, and other users gave me only elementary advisement (ie-"did you try reinstalling the drivers?", "did you check the speaker connections?", etc..ad nausem).
-They don't tell you about some serious compatibility issues with other creative products (audio systems).
-Sometimes the X-Fi's go haywire.
-If you want one of their "upper-end" X-Fi's, they cost a fricken leg and arm practically; And in return you receive a few nice features, but the benefits in no justify the Xtreme-Pricing (I'll call this X-Fi XP from now on, heh).
-That X-Ram is a total load of horseradish.  I've only seen evidence that it causes problems and if it is being used at all, it is more than likely slowing things down.

So, all in all, I'm not really sure if it has been worth it.  However, if you want to be trendy, then by all means go drop $200 or $300 bucks on a nice X-Fi.

Good Luck,

Jack Bauer

*EDIT* thank you max
