the l9 is the best sniper rifle at range by a long shot it's pretty easy to judge at even 350m+ try use the m95 at this range with that crosshair.

The M95 for unlock and the M24/Type 88 for stock weapons, the L96A1 has ginormous bullet drop and whilst it looks and sounds like a work of art, it is just not worth the unlock, lets point out two things that make people like it so much...

1: Reload speed similar to the M95
2: Small reticule

too be honest, I pitty the fool who needs such comforts to snipe, Nyte never uses it, I never use it and Towley never use it. There is nothing the L96A1 can do that the M24 cant, the M24 does take a while to reload, but that should not be a major issue, it still does the job perfectly, its reticule is only slightly bigger than the one on the L96A1, and I can still spot enemies and headshot them from across the map with ease, as for the M95, yeah its reticule is enormous. It reloads nice and quick and it can snipe pilots out of there cockpits, for someone like me or Nyte who have learnt the ways around the "flaws" of the M95, could easily take out someone with a L96A1 with ease. The Type 88 is also a nice sniper rifle because it has a small reticule and on Great Wall I can still outsnipe the EU army with great ease with my pwnermatic semi automatic rifle, so in conclusion the L96A1 is the G36E of sniper rifles.

The SVD Dragunov and Type 88. The best sniper rifles out there, you just have to learn how to use them.

The SVD is amazing these days. I spent a couple hours studying it today. It used to miss, now it doesn't. Its like an L96 with semiauto and 10 rounds (except not at really long range). Its great for karkand.

Common misconceptions about guns:

Fired at twice the speed of sound, a bullet will drop over 3 inches in 100 yards, and at 300 yards downrange will have dropped about 30 inches. Plug in numbers into the bullet drop calculation to see for yourself. Ammunition manufacturers contribute to this misconception by stating the drop of their projectiles as just the extra drop caused by frictional drag compared to an ideal frictionless projectile.

k. say i use the L96A1 on karkand, as i usually do. i have a rifle that is easiest to aim with (small reticule) and nearly the fastest to load. thats a good thing. if i picked the M95, i would have a rifle that is not easy to aim with, so why would i want the M95? if i chose the M24, i would have a slower reload time and a decent reticule.

based on that, L96 wins hands down on city maps, since bullet drop (apparently the L96's worst characteristic) is hardly a factor.

so you, nyte and towelly dont use the L96. the best snipers i have gone against and played with do. but no big deal, everyone has their preferences.

Use the M95, It can penetrate glass, so you can shoot pilots with it.

and the probabilty of such an event occuring in a typical round is rather close to 0.

i'd have to go with M95. At the range I find myself sniping, the xhair thickness is immaterial, so it doesn't matter what rifle I use. So I almost always go M95, to kill buggy drivers (Wake 2007, Vodnik, etc).

M95 FTW, but I have respect for the L96 & M24, for those long range work, e.g. Kubra Dam

M24...but I guess I have biased reasons.  lol.  I like the M95 off and on.  I have good and bad days with it.  I liked the L96A1 for a few days when that patch first came out, but lately I've been having problems with getting an instant kill with one headshot with this rifle.  Must have just been a few bad days while using it I guess.  I also like the Chinese sniper rifle.
