If you have to employ "exploit" tactics like team switching and play the same map for 50 hours just to get a ribbon your missing the point of the game.

And by the way, I don't hate the WCR, those who have it, or any other award I will probably never get. The fact of the matter is that most of us have lives outside of BF2s and will only muster average scores and ribbons. I, for one, am OK with that...it's a game.

Small maps can be a trap, because usually there is not enough time to change the situation when your team loses 10 tickets in the beginning. Yes, you may get more wins, but there is also the danger to get more losses...

nice writing dude ... i got my ribbon 1 month ago or so ... i was always playing with my clan so i got a pretty high w/l ratio ... just needed 50 commander hours and this time was horrible ... i hate playing commander

Shouldn't matter which one is coming first. You obviously need both ratio and commander time before the round where you get 45 commander points.

Yeah i would also say, you should find a server(Usally a clan server) Where one Holds the whole clan and high ranks, and the other side is random people and less high ranks, go on the high rank team and just play. eventually you will get the wins and you will rarely ever lose. i found a server like that and i can get good points on it also. but i havent played there alot. But i have a LONG way to go to get it. *Sigh*

just join digital anarchy and squad up witht he DA guys, its obvious a lot of clan servers have smart switch on and they stack like a mofo, its impossible to lose on a side thats stacked with clan tags. Reason for that being is they are a clan they will work together as a team.

I dont like to team stack on our server because the game gets boring winning, and winning, and winning, and I wouldnt want new people to think to win in my server you have to join my clan. You end up getting a bunch of skilless pubs that way wearing your tag.

But yeah the 16 player server idea sounds good but the only problem with that is all of the 16 player servers i'm finding now is or are pisol and knife servers and I wouldnt want to be caught DEAD in one of those. Sure the points would be cool but really I dont need to rank up that bad I dont even care about rank.

I will search for some good low latency 16 man servers or maybe even host our own.

First off, great article. I have about 40 wins to go before my 3 to 1 takes place. When I first started going for this ribbon, I did some team switches. Now I just play as a group with friends and try my best to win. So far I've been gradually improving my score, but I do remember teamswitching working occasionally back then. (Not my proudest moments... but we won't go there)

To test that, I did it again today, only I switched to the losing team to see if I'd still get a win. Needless to say with 10 tickets left, I switched to the losing team, spawned, and voila.. end of round +1 to my losses. Kind of kills the statement above.. sorry to say.

good work fellow WCR holder. i agree with everything said.

however, one thing i can add...

joining rounds that are halfway done...if the teams have an even amount of players (like the server has 20/32 players), feel free to join it. you'll get to choose what team you want to be on since you will be the extra player in the server. however, just hope the round doesnt end while youre connecting, or that someone else doesnt start connecting while youre loading the map.

Might also want to add, that if you end up in a server and on a losing team with 10 tickets left, if you DO NOT spawn, you will not get the loss. The second you spawn, you'll be recorded for the win or loss. So don't panic... just move the mouse around and sip some beer for the remaining minute or so.

Just a tidbit so people don't freak out over it

I never planed on going for that ribon anyway, I cant count how many times I have joined a server with one ticket left and got an auto loss because of it, or just been on a crappy team in general, even when I give up the sniper kit and go medic, we still seem to loose, or get raped, in my honest opinion, for a ribon it has absurd requirments! Your tut is good, dont get me wrong, but I wouldn't give up playing my favourite maps just to get it.

Good guide.
I have 195 wins left for WCR.

But sometimes even if you have done everything you could to win, your team is so crappy that you lose anyway.
Exemple: on sharqi as MEC

The USMC has lost the TV station. Their only flag remaining is the market. Then for some reason you die.
Suddenly you hear:
We've lost control of an outpost!
We've lost control of an outpost!
We've lost control of an outpost!
We've lost control of an outpost!
We're losing this battle start fighting or i'll find someone who can !

I know its been said but the longer you leave this ....the harder it gets,for me it would mean 1246 straight wins,which is just not possible.During the process any loss would have to met by two wins,to keep the 3-1.

There should probably be a seperate thread for how to win maps, because winning is the key to the WCR. Fortunatly for me, I play on the IHOP where team are almost alway even and =PBF= regs do not team stack. If you know the winning points for each map and teams are even, you will win.

Thx Cougar, I for one am tired of the attacks that come out when someone finds out you have the WCR.

And one more tip one loss is not all that bad (esp. on 10player maps) use that round to find a great TEAM and stick with them.

one lost round: it's just one lost round
a war college ribbon: 500h (for me)
having great teamplay: PRICELESS
