Specifically the BFG 512MB 7900 GTX OC.

Do you find after 30 minutes to an hour in certain games you get texture corruption, stuttering etc?

That's what is happening on mine, it's worst if I run say 3d mark 06 or Quake 4. Once I exit the programs windows is usually unusable requiring a reboot. (which can be hard when the window titlebars etc are black, i've had to do hard reboots a few times because I couldn't even use windows itself)

For some reason these problems don't seem to occur that badly on BF2, it's only after installing and running 3d mark 06 and quake 4 that i've noticed these problems. I noticed a couple of days ago slight stuttering on BF2 and ingame I just had a 3d object spike. (rotating radar dish on AA tank)

This just happened in a game I was playing a few minutes ago.

Notice the red and blue dots, I took this when I decided to see if I could get rid of the problem by underclocking the GPU and memory. As you can see it didn't work.

As the time I spend playing Quake 4 increases the frequency and number of red, green and blue dots start appearing.

I've just been reading up on the card, this seems to be a widespread problem.

The cooler on the GPU etc is more than capable, plus it's in a lian li V1100 case. This problem occurs even on a cold boot.

For example, first thing this morning the room was relatively cold as well as the case. First thing I start is Quake 4 and after 30 minutes I notice the texture problem occuring.

I'm either going to ask for a direct replacement or a new graphics card. Anyone have any suggestions?

Was thinking of going back to an ATI card, the BFG cost £340.39 before VAT. What do people recommend?

hmmm try underclocking it about 20 mhz mem and clock, see if u still have the same problem

The card by default is overclocked, i've underclocked it to its stock (nvidia) speeds of 650MHz for GPU and 800MHz for memory. Are you suggesting underclocking them below the nvidia speeds?

Whoa! Kotor having artifacts! Even my nVidia Geforce 2 MX doesn't get artifacts in Kotor! Seems to be a defective card. Honestly, Kotor shouldn't even get artifacts at all for a card like the 7 series. Go and return it and get a replacement for it or try getting a better cooling as stated before but the latter decision is highly unlikely to solve the problem. If I was you get a replacement. Kotor have artifacts from a Nvidia GeForce 7900GTX... Wow...

You might have a defective card. RMA ftw.

If It has warranty return it, I don't know why you want to keep wating precious days instead of doing something in time... Oh no, but you have changed the frequencies, dunno if this voids your warranty .

Ok, check this out.. I've underclocked the memory BELOW the nvidia specs for the card. 780MHz for memory AND....

In terms of a single-card vs. single-card performance, the 1900XTX beats the 7900GTX. For SLI vs. XFire, the SLI takes the win...

If you RMA it you'll receive the same card... not the same defective card, but it would be a 7900 GTX.

Ebuyer don't seem to allow a refund if it's still inside 28 days after purchase, only a direct replacement.

I've submitted it for returns, i'll phone them up on Tuesday and see if I can get a refund.

What do people reckon to this card? (Sapphire Radeon X1900XTX)

Sapphire makes good ATi Cards. I have a X600 Pro from them and I love my card. You won't be dissapointed with Sapphire.

Not only is the ATI x1900xtx a better single solution, but it performs better in Crossfire, then Nvidias 7900gtx SLI. Oblivion is the most demanding game on the market to date.

It's overheating.  You have lots of options.

From a few more case fans, to a better video cooler, all the way up to water cooling.

Just google "Video card cooling" and you will get a ton of products and reviews.

Good luck!

Definetly overheating if you're running stock speeds.

My 6800 GT OC will do the same thing if I overclock it a ton.

He said it does it straight away guys, even from a cold start, and he underclocked it. It is not overheating. He just got a bad card, it happens.

Just because he underclocked it doesn't mean it isnt overheating...Take off the heatsink, underclock it and tell me it isnt overheating...Ignornace...

no, they make good ones, but powercolor and others handle other OEM cards I do believe.

as others have said, I would RMA the card and get a replacement.

If that's not the pot calling the kettle black. His fan is working, and his heatsink is on, what does your comment have to do with this? He has it from cold startup, learn to read, and next time keep your ignorant comments to yourself.
