To add, that makes sense with the badges, it makes alot of sense. Quite rediculous some of those numbers....

I agree with everything your saying, but is EA going to fix what we want... no.  I think the reason why is they can't or won't put the large amount of resources to fix it.  Meaning that the bugs are too deep in the coding to just fix with a patch.  Not saying every bug is deep in the game but the red/blue is.  Also I think when they reduced the speed of the GL it cause other bugs.  Like it boucing off of hummers and such.  Simply the most import bugs won't be fix cause they can't or won't not because they want to do other things.

what would be nice is that not vehicle drop but a person plays a chinook pilot and when someone request it they get to take it to them or a fixed wing pilot and they get points for a complete drop, that would be cool, really make it real. just a thought

most bugs like the red name tag is in the core files and they cant fix it fully but the good thing is there using all this for 2142 so there wont be the same probs, prob some new ones put at least these 1's will be gone, i'll be glad to see the back of the friendly lock ons and the red tag bug, cause they re wrote the files and fixed it for 2142 but for bf2 its to deep in the core files to fix with a patch and the new air drop and stuff is in prep for 2142 and af cause there using it in there, plus there might be a squad drop or something like that where the commander can air drop an entire squad a certain distance into the battlefield but only if the entire squads selects it, buts its only on the table right now at ea so its not for sure for 2142 but im hoping so, it would be cool.

I think just about the only thing coming out of this patch will be the co-op.  It's something simple that should have been in there in the first place.  I know i'll be spending tons of time pwning countless top-bots.

It's also going to help me immensely with my chopper pilot/gunner training.  Now i'll finally be able to simulate real matches with bots and train my clan mates on how to fly/gun properly, so they will be ready for real matches.

And why the hell are you going to take away squad hopping.  There were never any complaints about that.......this is really going to piss me off.  EA, suck my balls for this.

Just a couple of thoughts.
With the air-dropping, I would assume that there would be a limited amount of vehicles to be air-dropped at any one time and as with all other squad oriented requests, a squad leader would have to issue the request which should enhance squad play. (One hopes) And this woud greatly assist with the siuation of spawning at a flag where all vehicles have been stripped, usually in order to have a lone wolf transport him\her self to a lonely but sure death. As to the issue of dropping vehicles on buildings, I would love to see the opposing team airdrop all their vehicles on top of buildings, makes infantry that much more essential and less subject to road kill and the "car bomb" element. Besides, they are much more effective targets when stationary and up high!!

I would love to see the addition of RORO (Roll On Roll Off) transports like in JointOPs, especially in the Armoured Fury setting, long flat stretches of highway and plains. That would be a great enhancement, having the ability to have armour and infantry move as one to a desired or conflicted area. As well as give the jet-jockeys the chance to show true skill as a transport flyer. (Yes I agree it takes skill to fly, but I do question the necessity of 4 jets and multiple attack helis in such localized combat)

The squad hopping "exploit???" fix is interesting as you cant join a full squad and I have yet to see a server where there are 9 full squads. So if a I become a squad leader and request support, or if a squad spilts (rare)  then they are SOL until your team loses a ticket(Die, respawn). Not a very team play friendly fix, but a very lone wolf perpetuating one. The majority of squad hopping I have done and seen is usually in the best interests of a team, I think of it as a consolidation or personnel replacement tactic.A more benefical fix would be the inability to lock a squad that is not full.

Personally, I would appreciate a teamplay enhancement with the addition of company units, 9 squads, 3 squads per company, company commanders accrue command points without the 2x of a commander. I think this would dramatically elevate teamplay, and help out the commander role. It is near impossible to effectively command 9 individual units, especially when you have squads composed of singletons who then lock the squad, or the ever popular Johnny Rotten squad (I Did It My Way!).

The Co-op addition is a great way to squad train. Personally as both a squad leader and member, I have noticed that most players have no idea how to behave as a squad member. I have often experienced as a SL, the inability of my squad to perform if I am not "leading the charge" literally. A good squad leader is most effective when providing a spawn point for the commanders orders. But most squad members are more concerned with keeping themselves alive, then completing an objective. Nothing more satisfying then capping a flag and having your whole squad facing you as an enemy nonchalantly lobs a grenade into your midst....oh the joy of a plan gone right!!! So hopefully the co-op addition willl assist in the development of squad-play, such as intersecting lines of fire, covering fire, squad movment and roles.

By and large, the majority of fixes have enhanced the game. There have been some gaffes, the delegating of the assault kit to role as a kitten killer, claymore now more sensitive than a jet whore's ego and the ability of grenades to be thrown like tennis balls. But overall, I would applaud EA for having addressed the issues that were killing the game, bunny hopping, dolphin diving, anti-team anti-air and the numerous code exploits and glitches. BF2 is an incredibly complex gaming environment from the standpoint of coding. It has a non-linear open interactivity that is not easy to build but DICE and EA have managed to develop a very solid game that while at times is frustrating, is most definitely never boring. And that is what I do enjoy.

(P.S. Has anyone heard if 2142 is to use PPU technology.)

"real life" ,"dices idea was to make it as near to real as pos from the start" Ha, Ha thats funny! Is that why the sniper class can only see 350m ,or the defib can wonderously cure any wound , or the mg can carry a 35lb weapon /300rd of ammo oh and and endless supply of ammo for any kind of kit out there.....just to to name a few real aspects of the GAME! ....and thats just it, its a Game! yes its fun, and has REAL Weapons but thats as far as it goes. Its because of Balance in game play?Maybe, but if thats what the intention is why do vehicle drop?....oh lets just  imagine a tank being deployed on the carrier[ I hope EA thought of this before ] now that just encourages the spawncampers don't you think?  Anyway this is not  to Flame you in anyway ,I just don't understand with the technology thats out there why cant they make a combat sim thats accurate in REAL aspects?

as i said its near to real life lol, i know the defib thing was not but could u really see ppl bothering to do 20+ things to someone to revive them, thats why its 1 thing, also by the looks of it the air drop is gonna be lke the supply drop only the squad leader can request for his squad and its gonna have to "charge" up like the supply drop so there aint hundreds of vehicles droping from the sky, which would be funny lol.

Looks like they've started updating the award requirements before the patch has even been released.... I've just had the Navy Cross and Golden Scimitar appear in my stats and I'm only on 131 and 107 hours respectively.  I'm on about 80 for PLA, so I'm guessing it's 100 hours now.  Anyone else noticed that yet?

After some thought I really do believe that the HUMVEE/Vodnik/Rice Van drop will most likely be on a timer that is very long. Simply put, think of the time it takes to recharge Supply Drops and multiply it by 5 or even 10. This puts the Vehicle drop as something that happens only once or twice in fast games or maybe up to five times in very long games. Assuming this timer theory, unless the commander is a nitwit who isn't playing their role properly, I do not see the vehicle drop as something that will be abused very easily. To waste the vehicle drop to block a runway every 5 to 7 minutes or so isn't effective in the slightest. Esspecially if all it takes to clear is simply firing the forward guns.

Along with the medal's times, they should balance the global points "differences" between some of the ranks.
ie: First Sergeant --> Sergeant Major = 30 000 points, however, Sergeant Major --> 2nd Lieutenant = only 10 000 points. What is up with that ? I really hope they fix this someday. Kinda odd IMO. They should make it a bit more consistant.

This is great!  I love playing as Sniper, and have been "crated" just once.  I had a great spot near the Train Wreck on Karkand, but as we all know, a great spot is only great until the next "scan."  It was a perfect shot by the MEC Commander, guestimating windage, and I never saw it coming.
I had no idea what had happened, but when I figured it out (I'm slow), I laughed for 5 minutes.

Hell, I'm going to stroke-out the first time I take an inflatible to the helmet!  I can't wait to see, and use, this against the other commander.  "Boat drop...shot over."

Hopefully, we'll get the low alt. drop so we can mow down a whole heard of footies while it slides to a stop.

Hey, I wonder if those aggravating car bombers will be able to load up the drop vehicle with C4 before launching it against enemy armor.  This would save the lazy bastards the trouble of having to actually drive the thing into a tank.

Keep 'em coming EA...with each new patch comes a little different gameplay and a whole new fist full of issues to gripe about.  I think they do this on purpose so we'll look forward to their next patch, while ensuring their own job security.

I love this game!

I kinda like jumping ranks every 2 weeks But yeah once you get master sargeant its like 15k to 2nd lieutenant and 15k to captain then 25k to colonel, then 10k to lieutenant colonel and then 25k again to the bird rank.,

BF2 has a very similar connection with the united states. There are those who don't complain about new patch updates, but yet have their opinion on how it will be abused(BF2 Conservatives) And there are those who whine like little bitches about how skilled players that are 5 ranks above them are somehow getting better and more accurate shots then they are, then the never ending whining of how people base rape(BF2 Liberal). I have a good answer for those who hate base rapes, this is some great advice.... Don't Effing spawn at the damn base if you don't like it!

As for the car drop, well i can tell you now, it will be abused. For the Co-Op Bot battles, i would like it if EA put a ranking system in singleplayer itself, so hell i would be a General in Singleplayer and act like a big tuff dude.

LOL, I like all these comments and stuff, I would really like EA to put a few more maps in there, like a flat map but it's foggy and stuff so people only get owned from like 5m away

Why would they add air-dropped vehicles? It does not help the game in any way. Now people are just gonna fly to the enemy carrier and spawn camp the deck in the HMMV.
I don't think they will spawn camp on the deck with the HMMVVEE.  Besides how are you gonna spawn on the vehicle there is there is no squad leader there to spawn too.   I think they will throw it down on the runways and the carrier to keep the planes from taking off if more like it.

I like the idea, especially when you have a squad that is in dire need to get out of a hot spot and can't run out in time.   Lets hope that they will be able to drop APC's.  That would really help.
