Well put skruples. One thing I would like to add to this if you don't mind. Evolution, the big bang theory, and modern science DO NOT contradict the bible. It doesn't say exactly how he did what he did other than he willed it so. Whose to say that what he willed isn't evolution. Whose to say the big bang thoery isn't how he made the universe? Whose to say that our understanding of modern science isn't our understanding of how god does things? What does a day constiture to god? 24hours? A year? A billion years?
I would like to ask you this? Why did god waste his time on dinosaurs if he just wills things into existence? I would like to remind you that there are still ancesters of those same dinosaurs still around. Most notable is the alligator and crocidile. Now I'm assuming you would agree that man and dinosaur did not coexist at anytime in history. (lol i think i gave you a way out there). Also, do you believe in life on other planets? If so, how do they fit into gods plan?
If what you say is true, then god would of placed us on a orderly and neatly arranged planet where there are no seasons. Where we can all wear loincloths and just waste our days away enjoying what god has offered. I tend to think that god intended for us to be tested by nature. To make us better and stronger. Also, our free will and obvisous thirst for knowledge (Eve and the apple) drives us to understand what is going on around us.
This whole creationism thing is the equivalent of a child putting a cover over his/her head because he/she saw a shadow that scared them.
No one here is questioning gods power or ability here. I believe we are all just trying to understand his plan and through understanding appreciate that which is him much more.
