To be quite honest, it doesn't look like you did much work with the old one either. j/k. I can see why you want to shorten it down to an easier maintenance-version, looks like a lot of work. It's surprising how much you have to actually style hair in order to get that unstyled look.

One really doesn't notice when ones hair grows out of proportion/style evolves to something that should never have been (or at least it feels like it afterwards), and once a new style has been taken, one tends to look at old pictures of oneself with the old hair and feel embarrassed. Why is this? It's a legit question, I bet it's happened to everyone.

yah i know, the last time i had it cut was like 4 months ago... back then the style suited perfectly, it was all in proportion. now it's wild and it takes a lot of work to 'achieve' the shape and form that it first was cut into months ago- different parts of hair growing at different speeds, different waves emerging in the longer layers etc. i just don't bother trying to 'style' it anymore because it's essentially not the same haircut, and is now pretty shapeless. hence the undesirable bird-nest look.

i'm not gonna go for a brad pitt... too popular. the picture i posted is pretty close to what i want; still medium-length, but undercut on the sides and back and razored-through to the top, where there's enough left to tussle and style into a rough and messy look. just a 'controlled' messiness .
