correct, this is the last game of the BF2 franchise, and I'm not exactly sure what they're doing next...heard rumors about "Black" or somethingPuppy wrote:
well now that they have made a future bf thats gotta be the end of the franchise there are no battlefields they can possibly use
Well, I'm with you! that would be awesome! even vietnam would be great (if they cut a couple of lame maps and put new ones instead)Plisken wrote:
Why don't they remake BF42, with the ranking system, award system, new graphics engine and improved WW2 weapons? it would more played (i think) than another futuristic one, anyone agree with me??
"Black" is already a playstation 2 game.k1LLr_M wrote:

What makes you assume that it isn't a mod? It is essentially a total conversion, so it still runs on the bf2 engine.RGB|Apocalypse wrote:
BF2142 in-game footage
Eh... can someone please tell me how this is NOT considered a mod?
Everything looks like BF2 except for the graphics and weapons..
Even the dismount to the left of the vehicle is the same!
Because it is branded as a completely new game by EA? If it is a mod/total conversion, can I expect the same crappy net code and possibly even the red/blue tag to exist?...tF-voodoochild wrote:

Thanks for the link to those vids too, if you look close enough you can make out the BF2S names in the on screen print.
Well, it is pretty much a new game. Lots of video games are all run on the same game engine, it is simply more cost effective and easier than writing one from scratch each time you want to produce a game.RGB|Apocalypse wrote:

I guess it is possible that you guys who are fortunate enough to have played it to not notice such things since it's essentially on LAN. But these are my grave concern for the BF2 engine...
Ah ok. Pardon me as I tot it was a demo at E3.tF-voodoochild wrote:
Of course, being the same engine it could possibly share the same limitations and issues as previous games built upon it.
Again, I'm not sure why you would assume that we would only have played 2142 on a local network. Especially when the announcement on the top of the forums states that we were playing from EA HQ with people on the floor at E3 (not at EA HQ...) Most of the time we were pinging in the 60's.
As for seeing bugs, sure we saw plenty of bugs, because at this point the game is still very much an alpha build. EA/DICE pushed this single map demo out for E3, so that the fans would have something to look at and get excited about, it is nowhere near the finalized version of the game.
Just wait a little bit and we should have some sort of write up and video footage from our outing today.
LOL, that would be great but don't count on it. They are gonna rush BF2142 and it will prob have more bugs than BF2.sheff1597 wrote:
I dont think we'll have to worry about the red tag bug ether. It cant be fixed by a patch, because the error is too deep in the core coding. But even though there using the same engine with the bug, they can now fix it now that they have total acess to the entire code. They know about this bug, and im confident that it will be fixed.
I dont see why there would be tons of bugs. They've been using and patching this engine for quite a while, they know whats in it and what is wrong with it. Now that they can basically start a new with it, they can pound out all the known problems with it, and hopefully get rid of many of the new ones that will likely appear. No im not saying its going to be perfect. No game is perfect on launch, and never get every bug ironed out of it, thats what patches are for. But I can say with confidence that the "red tag bug" wont be an issue. How could it be with all the work they've done to get rid of it in BF2? Im sure its the first thing they fixed for 2142.VeNg3nCe^ wrote:
