- Re: Euro Booster Pack Should Be Free
My opninion:
In mayor patches (every few months) there should be an occasional extra map, to keep the game new en fresh for the people that have been playing it for a while without making them buy an extra pack.
There is nothing wrong with boosterpacks, but 10 euros (12$) for 3 maps and 3 new vehicles is a bit steep.
I foresee that these boosterpacks will be shoved through our throats by forcing them into the mapcycle of the major servers, thus obligating you to but it if you want te keep playing BF2 in a comfortable manner.
If I wanted to ridicule EA's policy I would say soon they will make you pay for the patched, thus making you pay for the bugs DICE needs to fix.
But there is salvation in sight with the upcoming release of Quakewars at the end of the year... Maybe a bit of competition will make EA rethink their marketing strategy.

i already paid 70 quid for the bf2 and sf, and sf just did not deliver, so yes I agree.
I agree too, that you guys are a bunch of friggin tightwads. The people at DICE/EA do not work for free. Talk however much crap you want, it takes time and money to research, code, etc... the games.
If you can't come out of pocket for 10$ USD for 100+ more hours of entertainment, you are out of your fuggin mind.
Think about it, where else on thisplanet can you find entertainment that only costs you 10 cents (.1 USD) per hour? You can't. So quit your fuggin whining already.
That being said.... SF should have been a boster pack as well. I'll give you that much.

hmmm, you do have a point, I feel bad now. But its still anoying to pay, some might not even be paid in yet. And I have to wait...shit.
CoD:UO released tons of new maps with version 1.51 in fall, 2004. Plus, UO was only 30 bucks, not 50. EA doesn't need anymore money at all, they're just corporate assholes that need to get their priorities straight. Customer service + Gaming quality > 10 dollar "booster" packsDilbert2468 wrote:

Hi
With all the hassle and grief, then fact that the new 1.2 patch has mest up this game for so many of us playing
that new "euro booster pack" should be given for free with the 1.21 patch.
You spent $50 on the game
and $3000 on the computer to play it
but you don't think you should have to pay the programers $10 whole dollars for three new maps
because there was a bug in a zillion lines of code
hahaha just pay you fkn cheapskates
Cheesus fucking rice!
I gave a barmaid $10 tonight because she was REALLY FUCKING HOT! And I'm DAMN sure gonna give EA/DICE $10 'cause this game is REALLY FUCKING COOL!
I'm also gonna give you pussies $10 cause you're REALLY FUCKING CHEAP and it seems like you could use some cash. *
* All you need to do is fucking blow me you cheap bastards..........
EDIT: I should probably apologize for the above but unfortunately I can't bring myself to do it.......

nah 10euros is good but then they should have done it like we can buy it in a store ( I WANT A BOX WITH A CD OR WHATEVER BUT I DONT WANNA DOWNLOAD IT! )
What about players who don't have access to credit cards?
If they went to all the trouble making a brand new army/faction, they should've made 10 new maps, not 3. 3 new maps should be free.

EA will never release anything for free. No game comany will. They all want money. Its called capitalism.
Imagine you are EA. If you create the Euro Forces booster and sell it online for just $10, you expect to get enough sales to cover your costs and make a reasonable profit.glopje_nl wrote:

What happens if you sell it in stores too? Well, you now have to add the cost of creating, packaging, and shipping the CDs to retail stores, plus the cost of replacing bad media. You now have to charge $13 to cover those additional expenses.
Now imagine you own a retail store that sells software. You have employees, rent, and an electric bill to pay, and at the end of the month you need to something left to feed your family. EA says "please carry Euro Forces for us, sell it for $13 dollars, and send us all the money". You would tell EA to stick it where the sun don't shine. Your store needs to collect at least $19 to cover overhead and the cost of shoplifting. So EA had better set the "suggested retail" to $25, because your customers don't expect to pay full retail.
Of course, EA can't sell EF on-line for $10 if the sticker price is $25. I can get Norton AntiVirus in a box for less at Frys than I have to pay to download it from the Symantec web site. No software publisher can undercut his retailers for long; stores will simply not carry his products.
Now we are all paying $25 for EF because some people want a retail CD. Everybody is pissed that we have to pay that much (people already complain at $10), fewer people buy it, EA makes less money, and more people cry about money hungry EA. Everybody loses except the retail store and the sales tax collector.
Just how badly do you need a CD? If it were $10 to download and $25 to have EA ship a CD, would you still want the CD?
I think since Armored Fury was supposed to be released this month they should at least release them together with an option to buy both for $15.
I have to say, if you look, you already have parts of Euro Forces. Check you BFHQ and see what armies are listed??? On top of that, if you look at the Sounds for BF2, view the thread in the tech section, you will see that there is a EU folder. EA is basically selling you the maps and weapons for $10.
Agreed. Nicely said!Vic42 wrote:
