Just a side note:

Guns of Navarone
Force 10 From Navarone
Where Eagles Dare

were all based on books by Alistair MacLean, an old favorite of mine, so if you liked those movies you would probably enjoy reading his rather substantive number of books - or his other movies - many of which you may be familiar with.

Of COURSE Full Metal Jacket
Naturally Apocalypse Now *haven't seen Redux*
Platoon? It's the staple.
Blackhawk Down is a new classic.
3 Kings wasn't bad either.
80's classic  Red Dawn.

The Fox TV series 'Over There' is pretty cool. *I know one of the main actors*

But you guys are forgetting a few GREAT ones.

Stripes w/ Bill Murray.
Spies Like Us w/ Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd.
Hot Shots 1 & Deux summarizes the typical BF2 session.
Good Morning Vietnam, because EVERY war goes better when Robin Williams is involved.

So yeah...that's a small list.

Platoon
Navy Seals
Enemy at the Gates

forgot Iron Eagle (the first one, sequals sucked)

I know exactly what you mean, I had an Apple IIc myself, so at least I was not stuck using CAPS ONLY on my luminous green monitor.  However, I think WE are the videogame generation.  It may have started way back with Pong, but I'm still playing a quarter of a century later, and looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

Speaking of old and movies, what about the (sort of) war movie Southern Comfort?
