Battlefield is officially nothing more than a milking franchise
I agree. Now let's go back to playing CoD._j5689_ wrote:

No. Wait, what am I saying. Fuck you.
nowhere to run
which is going to be the studio that steps up to the plate and makes a real game?
After the steady degradation of the battlefield franchise over the years, I doubt I'll be playing it.
BF2
- fewer different armies
- stats (people chase stats instead of helping the team, also drove people away from non-ranked servers and hurt the mapping/mod scene)
- unlocks (they disadvantage newer players)
- tiny tiny pay to win component (specops unlocks)
BC2
- only 2 armies (can't actually go any lower without BF being a civil war, and even then..)
- more stats
- more unlocks
- fewer maps
- no map editor
- slight pay to win component (spacact - early access to some unlocks and more camo options)
- slight repackaging existing game modes promoted as something completely new (a form of rush existed in 42 - it was called objective mode AKA battle of britain)
BF3
- even more stats
- even more unlocks
- unlocks for unlocks
- even fewer maps
- huge repackaging existing game modes as if they're some great new thing. (various conquest variants)
- even more pay to win (heaps of "expansions" which have their own weapons etc)
- no run-your-own dedicated servers (sucks for LANs, and don't give me that "rent a server" crap - I't rather run it on my spare PC or inside a VM)
I expect BF4 will have four maps, about three hundred unlockable guns, each with forty or so unlockable extras, and only three companies will be allowed to offer hosting. Over the months following I expect a "completely new game mode", which is really just a repackaged conquest will be released. There will be several 'purchase levels' - gold, premium, ultra premium etc...
What the fuck am I even doing here? I don't even play battefield any more.

Here's a plastic bag and a zip-tie....
BF4 is of as much interest to me as a shit in a bag.
This can't be real. Close thread. Even if proof is given.
I think the new trailer will explain this one.Spearhead wrote:

Looks like the Warfighter weapons have a secondary sight for ADS. One, a 4x ACOG looking scope. Two, iron sights set at 45 degrees clockwise from main sight rail. For iron ADS, character rotates gun 45 degrees CCW and gets the fixed sights.
Weird. Neat. Both.

this is from a thread on spuf which is from a thread on reddit
Mod support -Hey Guys,
Seeing a lot of questions about the BF4 beta announce and thought that'd I make a thread where you can find official, definitive information and help to address some concerns that I'm seeing.
- The beta will be in Fall of 2013. We don't have a BF4 release date yet but, of course, it will be after the beta.
- We will continue to support BF3. DICE and EA are dedicated to continuing our support for Battlefield 3. Just as we've continued to support and maintain Bad Company 2, we intend to continue providing the best Battlefield 3 experience we can well into the future and past the release of End Game and Battlefield 4.
- There are several teams at DICE. Starting work on Battlefield 4 does not mean that we will be abandoning Battlefield 3 or working any less hard to bring you the best expansions we can.
- Your feedback absolutely matters. We will continue to use it to improve BF3 and to make Battlefield 4 even better from day one.
- Official details regarding BF4 will always be on Battlefield.com/battlefield-4. We expect there to be a lot of rumours and speculation - don't fall for it!
Let me know if you guys have other concerns. Obviously, at this point there are some things that we don't know or that we're keeping under wraps.
Today's a busy day so it may take me some time to get back to you - thanks for your patience!
- Ian
EDIT: Additional points of clarification
- There will be other ways to get into the beta aside from MoH Warfighter. At this time, however, it is the only way to guarantee entry.
- We've been seeing a lot of concerns about the pacing of release (i.e. "only" two years after BF3). I think it's worth noting that DICE has released a Battlefield game every two years or sooner AND Mirror's Edge (EDITED for clarity). I truly believe that we're in one of the best positions to be creating our next title - Frostbite 2 has matured, we've been gathering fan feedback like crazy, Battlefield 3 continues to expand with features which we can learn from, and we've got more data about how people play than ever.
EDIT: Additional clarification
Things that we recognize that there is a serious desire for, including but not exclusive to:
- A better VOIP solution
- Battle Recorder
- Spectator Mode
- More robust eSports support
Wasted maps space (Caspian/Firestorm) -Personally I think it'd be great. Pushing hard.
Supernova sun -Good feedback - can pass along
UI -We've definitely seen this as feedback and are taking it into consideration.
We know there have been a lot of complaints about the UI We are taking them into serious consideration. UI is a big point of focus for us in BF4
if they include mod support i would buy it in a heartbeat. the engine may be shit (as was bf2's), but the modding community around battlefield is fucking golden

Does that mean you'd wait til it's cheap?
Most of those things could easily be implemented/changed in bf3; instead they decide to create another shit game.
gg dice
gg dice
Most of those things could have been avoided if they had just made a modern version of BF1943. That game is freakin gorgeous.
Do they even have that kind of shit IRL? wtf?GeoEnvi wrote:

Remember kids, DO NOT BUY BATTLEFIELD 4. Do not give DICE your money after how they mishandled Battlefield 3.
I'll play BF2 before upgrading to BF4. I hardly even played BF3.

720/PS4 exclusive.
The wiki currently lists PC, PS3 and X360, but I can see it being for the new consoles as well.Battlefield 4 has a tentative release date of October 23rd, 2013, and is said to come on all platforms, current and next-gen. This means that we’ll see Battlefield 4 on PC, PS3, X360, X720 and PS4.
some talk about it being 64 player crossplatform...so if not ps3 and xbox360 are exceptions , it'll be for next-gen and PC
BF4 could possibly be revealed on March 26
After BF3, I find I'm not terribly enthusiastic about this. Still, I'll be keeping an eye on whats revealed.
