why do people flock to the 2nd Amendment when we have both a !st Amendment and a Preamble?

is the political divide so deep that American's can't reach a consensus on anything, that everything has to be all or nothing?

WTF?
Because you end up arguing with idiots that can't even define the thing they hate. I think gun rights advocates are just tired of being bothered all the time by people who have never even held a gun outside of a video game. They start talking about things like 'assault rifles' and you can't help but roll your eyes until you realize that these morons have a vote just like yours. It's easier to just say "2nd Amendment" and walk away. It takes less time than poking myriad holes in their half assed ideas.

edit - AR is proving my point right now in this thread.

I'm not arguing for one gun over many. I'm arguing that the guns which are impracticable shouldn't be on the market.

This isn't preventing hunters or home defense people from doing their thing. It's limiting the semi-auto weapons which have no practicable use.

As you said yourself, this gun isn't something you'd take hunting or use as home defense.
What makes it impractical? I said it's impractical for my purposes. So are machine guns, revolvers, and a 12 lber cannon. So what? People buy inferior products every day of the week. Should we ban cheap razors when people can go to the barber shop and get a better shave there? Your logic is ludicrous.

There's nothing wrong with semi-automatic weapons. Every handgun in the world is a semi-automatic. You pull the trigger, it cycles a round and fires. Are you really advocating that every gun in the world that isn't a muzzle-loader or bolt-action be banned? LOLOLOLOL. Good luck with that.
Feel like I'm repeating myself here, because you're just too dumb to read what I write.

If a gun isn't practical for home defense or hunting, why should it be on the market?

Sidenote: revolvers you can hunt with, and many people do.
You can hunt with it you fucking retard. You can defend your home with it. It's just not the best tool for the job. You can hammer a nail with a sledgehammer if you want to too. Christ, just stop posting.

I'm not going to counter anything you wrote because I'd have to wade through too many fucking misapprehensions and you'd be too fucking stupid to take on any corrections I made anyway. Just let me say that once again you made an ass-backwards and incorrect interpretation and came across as a gibbering redneck simpleton who lacks any ability to communicate beyond grunts and wild hand gestures. Well done on that.
Ah, Ty the great blithering know-it-all asshole responds... With a personal attack.... GG Mod, GG.  Fine then.

First, Hahahah...  Whatever.  Second, You couldn't form a logical argument if your life depended upon it (for your sake you better hope it never does).  I'm glad your country restricts you from firearm ownership.  You probably shouldn't have access to one.  Wait, actually aren't you in the NZ army (that and the NZ army is a joke itself).  Why does your country even bother with that?  Pending invasion of kangaroos swimming over from Australia?  You should just go all Switzerland like and be neutral as no one really cares what the almost auzzies think anyways.  Hopefully you'll get TK'd before you accidentally hurt a real soldier (that wouldn't be one from NZ either, but one from a real army).

Simple fact of the matter is you don't know shit about gun control with respect to US policies.  And it shows.  Misapprehension?  No, I understood you perfectly.  You made the typical douchbag, bullshit, anti-gun arguments that fail just as hard today as they did in the past.   And you're too fucking stupid to even defend your position.  So again,  I just laugh at you.

Thanks for the karma.  I 1 guard it though... And so yet again, I laugh at you.  You prove nothing but that you can still fail hard.

Especially one so dangerous as a semi-automatic that can be easily modified.

But, there has been a discourse with respect to gun ownership... It has been going on for decades, is going on now, and will continue long past your or my time on this spinning orb.

I guess I'll pull the 2nd Amendment because I get tired of constantly explaining myself as I'm constantly arguing with people who are too retarded to understand (Ty).

in a recent gun buy back a New Jersey widow turned in an original SturmGeweher that valued @ $25k +. The officer on duty told her she had a piece of history,

The widow asked the dept. to keep the gun in safekeeping. They not only did, but will act on her behalf when they sell it.

There are good and honorable men in the midst of this debate. There are sick and twisted men in the midst of this debate.

there are questions that this country is not facing, in the midst of this debate.

Honestly, I blame the idiots for making it such an issue in the first place. I can't tell you how many people were writing shit like 'if they armed teachers stuff like this would never happen'. Really, you want teachers armed now? Other people were posting links to donate money to the Brady Foundation. The entire conversation has gotten exceedingly stupid. One side wants to ban weapons that weren't even involved in the crime, and the other side wants everyone in the country settled into a state of MAD. Enough already.

Yea, the AR is more fun or anarchy guy type gun.  In the home defense is the Kimber.   I've got an 870 express, but I dunno... I'd be weary of someone grabbing the barrel on a corner or something.  But I have turned a person at 2am that was thinking of coming into my home just by merely racking it.  Meh, If you're wanting to stay shotty style though, look at the Judge.

I have a Mossburg Maverick that sounds nasty when you rack it. Showed the wife how to hold it and load it.

Both J & you had great posts above that cannot be refuted, too bad I all ready karm'ed you both today.

The problem with a gun safe isn't the safe itself.  It actually boils down to an argument of discrimination.  When the State attempts to put hurdles and obstacles that as a result infringes on a constitutional right, they will get struck down in court.  Without an amendment to the Constitution's 2nd amendment, requiring someone to own a safe to own a gun is akin to a poll tax to vote.  Can't afford it?  Then too bad.... It will lose every time.

I bought the safe as more of a piece of mind thing for the wife and because I had small kids than any other reason. Growing up, my dad has his guns and ammo in a glass front gun case in the basement. Not once did I want to break into it and play GI JOE or commando with them.

i wouldn't mind a trigger lock. but then again, i don't have kids.
the right to personal privacy in my mind is sacrosanct, and my gun ownership goes along with that.
the fact that only half of my guns are registered do not keep me up at night, or the fact that the state government might tax me on them.

what keeps me up at night is the phone call that the server went down, or that my father-in-law was admitted yet again for shallow breathing.
the realities of real life dictate that if my gun were involved in a mass slaying, i am willing to face the prospect of not securing them.

if they weren't, g t f o and leave me and mine out of it, but let's hang the douche that was found negligent by his heels, in the nearest tree.

Erm no.

Arguing a gun safe is like a poll tax is like arguing that paying taxes on a gun or paying for a permit is unconstitutional.

Do you really want someone who is too poor to take some easy steps towards being a more responsible gun owner owning a bunch of guns? If you can't afford a safe then you can't afford a gun.

Ditto.  I use it more due the fact that any retard could put a brick through my sliding glass door and ransack away until the cops show up.  Also having a type III device and me not being with it is required.  As to kids, my Son understands the destructiveness of firearms and respects them.  I wish I could get away with using a glass cabinet as my guns are pretty too....

Hell, that's an unexplored niche...   They make hurricane proof glass that will take serious punishment.... Why not incorporating that into a safe but with the looks of a display like cabinet.  That'd be sweet.

Sorry Mac, but one cannot put qualifiers on a Constitutional right.

If you are too poor to own a gun safe, then you can't have a gun.

My safe stays unlocked most of the time, tbh. I live on the rural side of the county, and the last thing I need to to try and remember the combination in the middle of the night. It does get locked when I am out of town or away from the house. The wife knows its unlocked, the kids dont go in my closet.

I, like you, tend to lose more sleep when I am on call than any other time.
