I must say it is fairly entertaining leading zombie trains of 20+ zombie's into buildings with survivors in them

But now that I have good gear and tonnes of ammo I feel the need to be more cautious (and murderous).

It's not an experiment in human nature/behaviour when you can respawn, though. It actually used to be normal for players to work together, back when bandits existed. That compensated for the whole resurrection thing. Then bandits got removed, and now everyone's either a security guard or a bush and it's impossible to have any reasonable idea if you're about to get shot

Cybargs is right, the only winning move right now is to not so much to try and be a survivor, it's turning the game into patrick bateman's chernarus murder simulator. (Camm, last page, case in point)

As annoying as someone disconnecting to avoid a kill might be, losing all your shit to some random occurrence during your 30 second logout period would be far more egregious IMO. In its alpha state I can easily envision issues with the logout phase, and each passing second just adds to the potential. You do not want to lose your shit, especially if you've accumulated it over days/weeks. That's what gives a lot of the weight to the encounters in DayZ. I'd trade missing out on a good kill or two due to disconnections, versus losing my character/my stuff to a weird logout glitch or somehow having zeds suddenly aggro me and kill me when I'm helplessly in logout limbo. Again, 10 sounds more reasonable.

10 seconds would suffice, but as it is you just make sure if you shoot at someone you can follow up and kill them quickly. when you take potshots with an AKM from 300 metres away expect the guy to get away or D/C

Disconnecting is so cheap though. I wish I had an option to punch somebody in the face whenever they do that. Gosh I wish I had this game though even if that DC aspect seems terrible.

It's really not that bad. The few times you encounter someone you want to kill, 90% of the fun is stalking them, and firing at them lasts a split second. So if you're in a position to kill someone, 10 seconds before logging out is MORE than enough. Making it 30 just wastes time when you're swapping servers to meet up with friends, or just want to log out.

Like Yordan said, the only time 30 seconds would benefit you over 10 is when you're taking pot shots at people from >300M with an AR.

Have you guys had this happen to you before, was on a server for 30 mins or so came across a downed chopper, found a SAW and night vision, spent about 20 mins heading else where, the server lagged out and lost connection.

I spawn in on a Different server and all my stuff and progress from the lagged server is missing.

I had a guy with a lot of high-grade military gear a few days ago. Logged out one night and the next day I was in the same place I logged out, but i had nothing, and i literally mean nothing. No weapon, no supplies, no backpack, no inventory at all. Even my prized ghillie suit was missing. Was quite a shame.
