So since Tim Tebow is the NFL version of Shifty how much can we attack him? I know it's not really nice to attack people on their faith, I guess. But if he makes such a show of it and acts like a tool (praying on the sideline, painting bible verses on his face, making abortion commercials etc.) can we make fun of him and his faith? Or should we be really nice about it respect him and his religion and not be mean about it?

Also didn't the bible say some stuff about not making a show of faith? One of the bible verses I like (aside from the things about killing witches and other fun stuff) is Romans 14:22- The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God.

What do you think?

the general comments i've seen and heard on sports talk radio are directed towards him making a big deal about his faith, not the faith itself. It's because he's putting it out there and seemingly rubbing it in people's faces.

What he needs to do is develop some kind of praise Jesus touchdown dance. Thinking maybe pretending to walk on water or raising one of his teammates from the dead.

Having it mentioned =/= being given shit. Certainly not to the degree that Tebow has received. It's completely unwarranted, imo. I'm no church-going Bible-thumper by any stretch. I just don't see the problem with the guy professing his faith. He believes that his abilities are a gift from his God and he is very thankful for it. It's actually sort of refreshing in the mememememe-centric professional sports world.

ESPN was 24/7 back when Steve Young was playing, you know. We've had players convert to Islam in various sports. They've done bit pieces on their conversion and devoutness, but they were serious...certainly not mocking in any way.

That's the part I don't understand. He takes a knee in the end zone (as do many other players). He takes a knee on the side line and visibly prays (as do many other players). He thanks his "personal Lord and Savior" first and foremost (as do many other athletes from many other sports when starting interviews).
