2142 was amazing. Funny thing is BF3's and BC2;s core infantry gameplay feel similar to 2142's core infantry gameplay. Can't move around as fluidly as in BF2 guns are point and click, maps aren't as large as BF2 because of no jets etc.
>amazing
pick one
i did play like 350 hrs of it which is way more than ive played any other fps besides bf2

I loved the grande launcher in bf2142, being able to set the explode distance was pretty cool.
And the titan mode, running at the end to get the survival medal thing.

I loved 2142, liked it better than battlefield 2 plus the music was very fucking awesome. If they make a sequal and do it right I'll be happy. Single Player Campaign might make it even better and interesting, it had potential.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
I have about 500 hours on 2142. Freaking loved it.
I don't agree with Uzique in that it was simplified. I think it was made harder than BF2 because you couldn't jump around like a freaking bunny. Bunny hopping is gone. In BF2 it was a huge tactic but in 2142 it was useless.

2142 was awesome I was number 3 in the world with claymores & 10 with C4 at one point. fucking loved defending that titan absolute ambush heaven for the defenders. Ahhhhhh fond memories.

I'd always set a claymore at the first set of structures protruding from the wall, and then put an RDX on each side facing me, and one on the roof. Then a last claymore at my position standing at the module pearing through the glass. I could kill the first guy with the claymore (or APM) and then get whoever comes to revive with the RDX. Then I could either hide behind the console wall and wait for them to get hit by the last claymore or if they're all dead go set up more RDX.
Rarely lost the consoles unless there were more than 4-5 people.

removing nuances in movement make the game harder? yeah harder in that you can't move for shit. as a skill, it made it easier.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Easier because people couldn't move in ridiculous ways, but harder because neither could you. So you might die more since you couldn't evade as effectively.

like it or not the movement in bf2 added an extra level of depth and finesse to the game
2142 in comparison was so simplified and shitty. what was there to learn in the movement? nothing.

2142 sucked
I never played 2142 apart from the demo, although they might have also had a trial for it, can't remember. Didn't appeal to me that much, but I think a 2143 would be a good DLC. Like Vietnam was for BC2.
Plain 'bunny hopping' as in mashing the jump button continuously never was a consistently effective style of movement in bf2. It's really easy to counter with any hitbox knowledge. There is so much more than that to superior movement in that game.
2142 infantry combat was boring as fuck in comparison, as is BC2 and BC3 infantry.

As long as we're talking movement in the BF series, has anyone ever understood why we can't lean?Uzique wrote:

I could do it to peer around corners back in MOH:AA, but the 'modern' series of games seem to neglect its usefulness.
i didn't miss lean. cod1/cod2 offered lean mechanics if i wanted it. bf2 had a different type of movement altogether.
