For me it was all about the Nuke general. cheap nukes and veteran inferno cannons off the bat was just great. Run about 10 of them with about 10 chain gun tanks/dragon tanks and 10 rocket troops, it worked wonders.

auroras were ok to get back safe, you just have to micro every single one. find the one defense that isn't covered by another, and start chipping away that way. the only other use i got out of them was for a urgent superwep destruction. nuke and tank gen were my favs

Although, Infantry and Demolition general are the best two to do the Challenge with. That way you can fight all the generals and not skip the one you're currently playing.

I honestly can't remember the last expansion pack that turned a shit game into an amazing one like Zero Hour did.
EZ strat for either the Laser gen or the SW Gen is to make tomahawks, humvees and those laser jeep things. Tomahawks take out the base defences, humvees take out inf (their tow makes short work of the FEW tanks the enemy will make) and the laser jeeps take out the air. Roll on through their base with 0 losses.
One of the most satisfying parts of the game is still to put OP infantry inside that OP combat chinook. Glass cannon, but the results are awsm. You can stick a Humvee full of troops inside as well, so the guys inside can fire out of two vehicles at once.
thats cool and stuff, but you could just go with helix's and basically have flying overlords
