I do do that. I go back and look for bands that I haven't experienced before, or that I overlooked, but my boundaries are still in place. I'd much rather go explore a new-to-me punk band from the late 70s than listen to stuff put out today. Pandora actually helps me find new old stuff fairly regularly which is nice.
Oh alright. I'm kind of the same way. There are a few people that I'll always follow from band to band, but not many.

Well, I have a recommendation for you. May or may not be up your alley.

Have you ever checked out the RX Bandits? They originally started out doing ska-punk, but now they're more rockish-somethingorother. Don't know how to describe it, they are extremely technical and all very talented. Most of the music is pretty fast, so it might appeal to you. When I want to listen to something a little on the complicated and technical side, I put them on.
Haha I remember going to an Rx bandits show in high school. They are from around here. In fact I distinctly remember the venue and the show itself. Old school haha.
I would've loved to grow up in OC, most of the bands I've listened to over the years originated there

I must warn you, they have a noticeable ska influence, so if you don't like horns, this may be difficult for you to listen to. On a different note, their drummer is insane. I think they did their "...And the battle begun" album all live in the studio.

Not saying they're bad, I just wouldn't be able to pick them out of a late 90s Warped Tour lineup.

wine isn't very manly. Try some beer. It's only fitting.
