there has been very little that is ‘mundane’ about my existence. i don’t need a filthy and ungrateful animal to make my life exciting! i go outside! i have hobbies, dammit!

the other half is making encouraging sounds about very nice and expensive designer furniture. which is the perfect opportunity for me to point out that good stuff in means awful tacky filthy cat crap has to go. the transition to sensible good living has begun in earnest.
I think the problem is not the cat its your psychology.

You need to reframe your thoughts from believing the cat is evil and out to ruin your life to understanding the cat is a mystical spirit which was sent to protect you from evil spirits and help you with personal growth.

When the cat does some apparently malicious act understand that it wasn't. I mean maybe it was but more likely it was to amuse you or force you to reflect.
Are/were those expensive earphones really that valuable to me bearing in mind the sun will eventually expand to a red dwarf and swallow the earth?
etc

You can bring a lot of joy to a tiny life without a lot of effort. Maybe that is your purpose.

i am actually fine with animals just doing animal things. i'm not neurotic or a control freak or anything. my family have had dogs. i've been around cats, at a safe and confined distance (typical mad cat aunt, etc.)

the cat was specifically playing up and acting out all summer though. even my other half expressed alarm and said she had never encountered behaviour like it. it was being a shit, and part of its shittiness was targeted at me. not something you want to contend with when you've just bought into 'your' home. this town ain't big enough for the two of us, etc., kinda vibe. why should i have my first 4 months in my new home scotched because of an undisciplined, spoiled animal?

inevitably, most of it came down to her not training or socializing the cat whatsoever. they lived together in some dyad, where even her sisters or relatives visiting her former place equalled a showdown. the animal was given everything, and denied nothing. and somehow i was expected to just fit into this extremely unhealthy and overindulged atmosphere. while paying into the mad scheme.

OK you enjoy your luminous orange rice snacks which taste of EPDM.
not really sure what you're referring to, to be honest.

the rice snacks in asia are fresh and healthy. honestly, corner-store or convenient mart food in the west is not as good. convenience store food is so good in asia that it's a meme on social media. it's a part of people's tourists experience to try this stuff.

if this looks unhealthy to you, don't look too closely at what brits or americans are snacking on during their corporate lunch breaks. the equivalent 'social media meme' food in the UK is ... greggs.

sorry man, you're honestly just going to have to travel and get out of your comfort zone on this one. asia has rock-bottom obesity rates and their food, whether michelin star gourmet or fast food, is shockingly good. that's kind of a huge part of their draw, internationally.

'luminous orange rice snacks' honestly sound like rice crackers, which should just have a soy sauce or vinegar brushing. pretty much the same additives cautionaries as for any other processed, packaged food. not like the west is short of any of that. eat bar mix sparingly.
