Gums get cut anyway. When they are extracted you're left with gaping holes in your mouth that they have to stitch closed. Fun getting rice stuck in the holes

It's the first I've heard of it. My molars were pretty big so not sure if that makes them too hard to stitch shut.
It's crazy how different some dentists can do things from other dentists and even what they're willing to do. When my dad was 13, his family didn't have good dental insurance and it didn't cover anesthetic, so he ended up getting a root canal without anything at all. I think that's probably the side of the family where I get my immensely bad luck from.
The last time I had dental work done, I had the n00b son of the guy the practice is named after who usually does it; he had to inject the Lidocaine or whatever it is twice, the first time did nothing at all, the second time numbed up the front-right of my mouth instead of the rear-right, so I just said fuck it and let him do the filling without rather than wait all day for him to hit the right nerve(or any nerve at all), wasn't really that bad though.
