I don't really see why... Most good motherboards already come with decent onboard soundcards....
Skipped it. I can reuse my old one if I want to.

Will do lol.

I added thermal paste and a new mouse to the list. Does it look like I'm missing anything? Everything compatible? Also, am I better off waiting until Black (thanks SERE) Friday to purchase?

Shit almost forgot. Do I need to buy connector wires and what not?

Good news for me also. Since I'm reusing my computer, I can reuse my 7200RPM 500gig HD.

Once I tear this computer apart it would kinda suck to figure out I'm missing something.

Personally, I would get a 2GB HD6950, but that's personal preference. You'd also be better off with a Z68 motherboard like the one I posted, rather than the P67 one.

Also, why 2 copies of Windows 7?

Always had nVidia, stupid I know but its how I am. I'm gonna swap out the mobo for a Z68, got a question first. What kind of PCI port is my old Xfi Sound card (assuming I decide to put it in).

Regarding 2 copies.... I'm just a tard.

No need for extra power or connecting cables right? I can't remember if they all come with the equipment.

I'm thinking about for xmas getting an i3 + suitable mobo + perhaps 1x4GB ram, 2 if it's cheap enough. Really want to keep this low price, hence the i3 over the i5. I know it's not the best, but I could upgrade to an i5 later (right? I haven't looked at this shit in months). Think that's doable with, I dunno, £250? I've got a good enough PSU, shit case but it works and a 5770 (which I'll prolly be upgrading anyway).
I dunno if bf3 will run on an i3 as well as it's running on your q-ninety-whatever. It's multithreaded mind?

you're re-using an old psu?

dude.

come on. Please don't. I know PSUs are well built and all, but are you really gonna risk $1000 worth of new tech on a 4 year old psu?

Are you going overclock the CPU?  No need for an aftermarket heatsink and extra thermal paste if you're not going to.

I could save you 100 bucks and get you a download for Windows 7 that'd be fully activated and updates. Just gimme a PM.

Shit you're right, I forgot they were dualcore w/ hyperthreading. I'll check out some benchmarks.

He probably doesnt need a Z68 if he's not overclocking or going to use Intel Smart Response SSD caching.  OTherwise the P6T should be fine. Your sound card is most likely a PCI bus device.  There are some PCIEx1 cards out there but if yours is a legacy xfi its most likely pci.

No. So I'm gonna ditch the heatsink and thermal paste. (theres one worry gone)

Did not know it was a problem. I'll buy another PSU, and in that case, I'll spend the bucks on another case. Fuck, and probably a monitor.

So go back to the old mobo?

True, except that the Z68 I posted and the P67 he posted are the same price. Why not go for the Z68? Leaves more options open for the future.

Great point. If its the same price get the Z68.

Buy a modular PSU.. it's slightly more expensive but well worth it since you have all the cables you need and none you don't

I'm not saying YOU MUST GET A NEW PSU... I mean, if you think your's will last then hang on to it, but IMO, I wouldn't be putting an old psu together with new tech. What does everyone else think?

In my recent adventures with PSUs, I would agree with Camm. You should probably get a new one if its anything more than 2 years old. I had the one in my wifes computer go out and take portions of the mainboard with it, and it was 3 years old. I would also go with a modular if you can spare the cost, they just look cleaner than having a spool of unused cables at the bottom (top) of the case.

This. 2011 was just around the corner when I built my 2600K PC in Aug '11. I can tell you it wasn't worth missing out just to wait for the greatest thing ever.
