when was that? there are tons now. people go 'ew' at cherry blacks. a new board got released recently, i think it was by corsair, but everyone said how it'll be shit because half of the keys were cheaped out on and filled in with black switches.

I started looking about 3 years ago but pussied out and bought a cheap logitech g-series. Back then the steelseries and the filco boards from japan were the only real options aside from going retro and hunting for old ibm/dell keyboards.

I caved about a year later and just forked out for the steelseries. Loved it ever since but don't have any firsthand experience with other switches.

reds are awful for gaming. they're the best for very rapid touch-typing, and even then they are flimsy and are avoided because they are extremely niche. blacks are only good for gaming because they are so stiff and so don't type very well. blues and browns are the better ones, with browns being the most expensive to manufacture and hence being on the top-end boards.

Blues and browns are tactile right? You dont need tactile switches for gaming unless you play really precise with your keystrokes or some shit. I cant comment on the quality of all of them but I cant imagine you get any use out of a tactile switch in gaming

i think the idea is that if you're even on a gaming forum talking about games, you'll benefit from a tactile key. you're not ONLY gaming, are you? when you depress a key you're not holding every letter down for 15 seconds, as you are in gaming. your fingers will get fatigued using hard mechanical switches that are not tactile. it's also not as comfortable. people say that black switches are good for gaming but i don't know anyone that only uses a pc keyboard to game on, 100% of the time. the price difference isn't that much, either. maybe +15-20% more for the more expensive switches. i don't see any reason to get a black board.

ironically, back then when games were hard most mice were good, whereas gaming keyboards were gimmicks. nowadays mechanical keyboards are good, whereas most high-end gaming mice are full of gimmicks.
