I can't believe using a nuke was even considered. Wiping out a whole city because of one despotic dictator?

Why not just upgrade airport security to the point it actually works?
Its a whole lot easier than fighting wars.

Take it to another thread.

They provide scholarships for the children of special operations personnel killed in combat and training accidents, and assistance to the wounded and their families.

No amount of security can stop someone who is determined enough to cause havoc.

I wouldn't trust anyone who tried to dress up as batman and fought crime. He's probably insane in the membrane.

they crossed the line first, sir. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation they turned to a security they didn't fully understand.

Fuck-ton better than posting roses and prayers in your Facebook status

Edit: Not directed at RAIMIUS. Have seen a shit pile of naive, misguided fools jumping on the bandwagon on Facebook with "Post this in your Facebook status, or else!  Pray this, cute ASCII rose that, etc".  Bullshit melodramatic bandwagon assholes.  Meanwhile, the people that actually know any of the fallen are posting simple one or two line messages or poems, if they post anything at all.

This kinda hit home for my husband's fam.  They just buried his cousin who died in a helicopter related incident while under fire.  It is sad to see that so many other families have to go through this too.

True.

Could very well be true.  But it smacks of the same kind of tit-for-tat propaganda that the Pakistani newspapers were shilling, with their headlines of Taliban kills SEAL team that killed Bin Laden

For those playing the body-count game at home, the SEALs give much more than they take.

'Tis better to give, than to receive.  Especially in regards to KIAs

Chinooks are vulnerable. But they don't do touch down missions without Apache support. They always have cover.

Its a lottery anyway. There is the Apache with its sophisticated HINDAS (sp?) system which picks up all kinds of ground threats and defeats them using counter measures or at least gives the pilot an audible warning. The Apache can detect RPG rounds being fired and their dirrection.
Where as the Chinooks which are coming right down low onto the deck have no such system. Chinooks rely on the Apaches to cover them and they often stay close enough to avail of their countermeasures. But all that is lost when the drop to the deck often into zero visibility dust cloud for the last 100m. Flying a Chinook in combat is possibly the hardest flying job out there.

I wouldn't think the Apaches would have too much trouble spotting enemies with their thermals while the Chinook lands.

Can't see through walls.

Can't always tell hostile from civilian.

Can't always see through dust and smoke.

And, sometimes, even a one-eyed spastic monkey can get a lucky hit with an RPG
