He was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross (CGC), which is given in recognition of acts of conspicuous gallantry during active operations against the enemy. The CGC is second only to the Victoria Cross -- the highest honour for bravery in the face of the enemy.

i dont think you can compare combat records. especially for iraq. the highest level of Uk troops in country were a tiny fraction of American troops deployed. And, the areas where the Brits were deployed were not as dangerous. Outside of the sunni triangle.

that's what I meant by combat records, compare the amount of british troops who have have been shot at and those who have not with American troops.

then again the regular rocket/mortar attacks make that distinction hard to make, sometimes
