Giant bowl of seaweed salad and some salmon sushi today. I normally like squid and such, but the mini-octopus salad I could have chosen instead kept staring at me through rubbery eyes.

You need to try those baby octopus, live. Suckers pulling at you down your throat. Or still breathing fish, as you eat the sides.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

I couldn't eat a live animal *gags*

Muscle memory actually. Fresh picked, gutted, and chopped before put on a plate. They are already dead by then. Just muscle memory. Same as cutting a chicken's head off. Body will sometimes continue to flap about.11 Bravo wrote:

Because throwing a bucket of crabs or crawfish into boiling water is less traumatic to the animal.
I'd rather be flash-boiled than pulled apart slowly limb from limb, if it came to that.Ilocano wrote:

They were already dead when they were gutted.

Whenever we get live crawfish (Asian markets), we pick out a few and have the kids play with them. The rest, my wife throws them into a huge steamer without a second thought. She loves them.Jaekus wrote:

Because it's a new experience and we should all be trying out new things as often as we can.11 Bravo wrote:

Why do people destroy food and make it an unpleasurable experience to eat it? Why steam all your veggies, grill all your meats, and avoid butter and salt?
