Lunar perigee, which is only about two percent closer. Sounds like hype to me.

Vidale concurred. "Practically speaking, you'll never see any effect of lunar perigee," he said. "It's somewhere between 'It has no effect' and 'It's so small you don't see any effect.'"

The bottom line is, the upcoming supermoon won't cause a preponderance of earthquakes, although the idea isn't a crazy one.

"Earthquakes don't respond as much to the tides as you'd think they would. There should actually be more of an effect," said Vidale.

Most natural disasters have nothing to do with the moon at all. The Earth has a lot of pent up energy, and it releases it anytime the buildup gets too great. The supermoon probably won't push it past the tipping point, but we'll know for sure, one way or the other, by March 20.

Fucking hell.
Well worth watching.

On SKY earlier the chopper was up filming the tide racing across the farm land, it span round and showed the next wave coming in, this link also shows that.

Gonna have to pay attention to this one. My place is just up the Howe sound from there and only a little above sea level.

Crazy.
I watched this with bated breath earlier expecting it to rip through the farm land like the earlier wave.  It just seemed to stop at the shore line, I was watching it live about 4 hours ago now.  I know what Ive just said sounds crazy, but it just seemed to act like a normal wave at the beach.  It also showed about 4 more of these behind this wave shown

That was the last 10 mins or so.

That looked crazy when they were all bent over as its Friday Prayers time, then they all knelt up.

Check back on the hour, 15 mins or so

Damn, its on about Gadaffi again.

It just showed footage from a Mobile, the house shakes, the people run outside into the road and a woman is lying down.  The windscreen wipers on a car were facing upwards as if done by vandals.

Did I say that? No. My cousin told me this, don't go and get your panties in a bunch because of something someone said.  It's already been debunked, but clearly he wasn't the only one thinking this because other scientists were think it might happen too.

the moon theory is full of shit frankly. go to wikipedia, look up some numbers, plug them into newton's formula and you'll see why

Id worry more about the sun. Last Wednesday we had another huge mass ejection. They're saying that the northern lights might be visible as far south as new york city this time. The solar peak is really starting to gear up now.

i hate waking up to shit like this. disaster news is always so sobering. now it's going to be played nonstop with live footage and looped clips on 24hour news and internet sites. so depressing. what an awful event... makes me think a lot about the state of news-reporting and globalised information, too. it seems like thesedays there's a new atrocity and disaster every day. thoughts to the affected and afflicted.

Heard an LPG plant exploded, and just saw footage of the waters rolling into an airport. The aerial shot at first doesn't look too bad, until you see the cars and houses for scale and speed.
