If breaking into a house that is protected by gun ownership is not a deterrent enough, then the home owner knows exactly what to do.

Well, he broke in so it obviously wasn't a deterrent, and real bullets do have a dangerous range measured in miles.
They don't just stop and fall to the ground when they reach the edge of your property, plus American homes are mostly made of cardboard.

Well that is why they invented hollow points. Why would you come up with 1001 reasons to submit to criminals and not a single reason to defend yourself?

and no, not everyone will be deterred. Just makes it easier to know who to shoot.
