My mother owned a hairdressers on a main Sydney street. At age 5 she'd give me money to go buy whatever I wanted from the corner shop. (Like 6 shops down).

So after returning, I was sitting on the door step eating some hot chips I'd bought. Anyway, car pulled up, passenger door opened. Man inside asked if I wanted some lollies. Asked me to walk over and he'd give them to me.

I said no, cause I fucking loved my chips and was pretty content with what I had. And I went inside. After that he just drove off.

I know now he was obviously a kidnapper. I have no doubt that had I approached the car, he would have grabbed me and I'd be raped/tortured/killed.

Still fucking love hot potato chips. Saved my fucking life.

- E. Coli infection when I was 5 days old. Stopped breathing and was rushed to the hospital. Took the doctors a week to figure out what it was.

- Near heart attack last year. Had a case of pericarditis (which is what led to my dad's heart attack in '07) coupled with massive stress from just going through a major breakup. Had a bad encounter with her about 2 weeks after, was walking to class when I felt severely sharp pains hit my chest. I'd had dormant dull pains for a few days, but this was really bad. Got progressively worse, got to class and was clenching my chest as I got in the class. Teacher from the class before asked if I was okay - and that's when I hit the ground. Got rushed to the hospital and spent the day there with an eventual discharge. Doctor said if it was a more severe form of pericarditis, I could have had a heart attack in the same fashion my dad did. I'm fine now and was back at school the next week since the infection subsided. I was young and stupid and let something like that physically get to me. I look back at it now and can't believe it legitimately almost killed me.
