It pisses me off. I love the browser, but sometimes it runs across websites that it doesn't seem to like and won't load things properly. Case in point, I just ordered a pizza from Dominos tonight. Everything is fine, until the security login from my bank is supposed to appear at the end to approve the transaction. In Firefox, that works fine, in Opera it doesn't. I've noticed recently there's been a couple of websites that it has problems with. It seems like if I've ever got to do something slightly complicated it doesn't fucking work. Basically it's impossible to use as your sole web browser, which is nuts. Am I the only one that has these issues, or do other Opera users have to suffer through this as well?

I had that issue the other day. Usually worked for me, but when I went to pay my phone bill it didn't come up.

I rang o2 up and was all angry cos they cut me off, but forgot that thing fucked up and I didn't end up actually paying my bill D:

Also, I can't compose emails in Opera with my Email address. Have to use IE.

Switching to the new Chrome, soon, or that new, shiny IE if it's minimalistic enough.

I just upgraded yesterday to the Opera 11 Beta, it's awesome.

I know the security thing you're on about, works fine for me.

E: only thing that doesn't work properly is Facebook login.

I come across sites every now and then with sub-par e-commerce implementations that rely on browser-specific hacks to function, and most of those don't work in Opera for that very reason. I keep Firefox installed to deal with those sites. It's annoying, but the problem is usually with the site, and not with Opera.

I use opera (10.6something) and yeah i know exactly what you mean. But I like it too much to use another browser as my default.

I just use firefox when something doesn't work properly; it doesn't happen that often. But I guess that depends on the sites you use most frequently.

edit: yeah and what mikkel said. I think that its the sites not being tested properly on all browsers most of the time.

Firefox is where it's at bro.

*Netscape Navigator used to be where it's at, then they changed where it was. Now where it was isn't it, and where it is seems weird and dangerous to me.

Not really. Opera has been innovating a lot more than FF and is faster under every test.

Opera isn't shit. As mikkel quite rightly said, some assholes think they can get away with browser specific hacks in this day and age. Opera doesn't handle it because it's not expecting problems like that to occur.

Also, I know exactly the problem you're mentioning, and I've never had a problem with that working in Opera.

Without qualifying my statement you've immediately assumed browser speed is all that is important to me, and that my choice in firefox is clearly misguided because Chrome is faster.

So you've given me a position, and then argued against my position. You're arguing with yourself.

Firefox is superior to Chrome for reasons other than speed, I prefer the extensibility. But feel free to keep telling us how Chrome loads pages faster. That's great. High five, bro.

It's fantastic. I guess mostly at the end of the day the layout and looks of it are what I like best, because after all, what's going on under the hood doesn't make a great deal of difference to people. (except in this case when shit doesn't work)

Yeah I figured that was the case, however, as a web browser it isn't its place to decide what I can and can't view because of other peoples shitty coding. It should be able to adapt and display it anyway. There's no point a browser with a tiny market segment trying to force people to build better websites, because it simply isn't going to happen.

It isn't some random site's place to decide what web standards are, and it most certainly is the browser's place to parse sites according to standards, as that's what a browser is supposed to do. Opera shouldn't adapt to non-standard code for the same reason that other browsers don't. The issue is that sites adapt to or exploit quirks in browsers, not that browsers include quirks to adapt to the sites. With the exception of Internet Explorer, of course.

Your beef is with web developers - not with Opera.

Naturally there are flaws with mini, as none of the actual rendering of the site is done via your phone, but via Opera's servers. But if anybody was attempting to use Mini on their pc.... well... no comment.
