They know exactly what was leaked. They've known since the day he was caught. The US government isn't surprised by these leaks, they're just rightfully pissed off.
Pissed? Try scared shitless. Sure is no surprise that duplicity is the very basis of US <INSERT COUNTRY NAME HERE> foreign policy, we all know it but proof like this is what we all wanted.
So as of now anyone who opposes this exposure is in fact supporting duplicity.
Fixed. Diplomacy is not about transparency. Never was, never will be.

Hey Mr. Pothead Basement dweller, I forget, did we start the war in Afghanistan or did it start because some buildings were dropped about 180 miles from your mom's house?
Easy there pops don't give yourself a heart attack.  I was primarily talking about the Iraq war but do you really think that it's economical to continue the war in Afghanistan?

Iraq war is over, haven't you heard? Afghanistan is a quagmire and regardless of whether it's economical or not to continue there, we are there, and American lives are now in danger because of Julian Assange. He's not a hero, no matter what your friends on Reddit might think.

PFC Numbnuts pulled the documents off of a classified network and walked out of a secure area with them. They were "hidden". Until someone who was wrongly trusted violated that trust.

When it becomes so clear that your foreign policies have been made for the benefit of ignoble countries instead of your own...all you focus on is Assange.
This statement makes zero sense. Maybe as I continue reading the thread you will clarify in some way...

Edit: You were talking about "doing Saudi and Israeli dirty work". News flash: We're not. In fact, one of the "leaks" is King Abdullah pleading for us to do MORE regarding Iran. Then there's the whole European position regarding Iran that mirrors our own. But facts like that are inconvenient when it comes to bashing American foreign policy, I guess.

Those diplomatic cables--when written and transmitted--did not put anyone in danger.

Publishing them to an unintended audience did.

I gotta say. The way he has released these leaks is pretty smart. By breaking it up every few months it's forcing the media/public to keep revisiting the issues. The American public isn't known for their attention span. Julien Asagne has been effective in staying in the limelight.

well in all honesty iraq started everything because laden told saudis he could protect them from iraq.  saudis laughed at him and went with the US.  laden was pissed and used daddies money and a fucked up religion to start another war.

idk about the first part. That's really subjective. But you REALLY need to read some history if you don't know about the second.

The argument could come in whether UBL controlled Afghanistan during any timeframe. That's what I was getting at, which was how I read the first part of your post.

well without laden the taliban would not have been that powerful.  hence laden and his band of merry men.

Not sure how UBL made the Taliban any more powerful than they already were. I would say it was the other way around, since the Taliban provided UBL and AQ with a safe and relatively obscure place to train/hide once they left Sudan. He's just a millionaire. Not like he's got enough cash or arms to bankroll/arm a nation...

I don't see how. What kept the Taliban going was their control over the Afghanistan population. UBL had nothing to do with that.
